First, what do you mean you’re never doubting Hubbs after the Schiano mess? Secondly, the bolded would be terribly disappointing.

Hubbs kept mentioning Schiano like he keeps on mentioning Steele.

It's hard to imagine how this thing could have gone any worse.

On the Saturday before Schiano was "hired" he made it clear he was the front runner. I wish I could recall the exact wording. Will try to find it

I think Hubbs saying that Steele isn't a front runner is pretty clear he isn't at the top of the list and we have a few people to get through first. If he was the leader he would say something like Steele is in a good spot for the job.

He also said he is not the front runner. He said that definitively. So reading into that I think Hubbs is saying that we would have to be turned down to end up with Steele but it also sounds like Hubbs thinks that is definitely possible as well.

That’s just because Hubbs won’t call him a front runner until it is imminent, especially because he knows the pitchforks will come out in this case. When Hubbs calls him a front runner, it will be announced within hours. Has Hubbs even said the “real possibility” thing about anyone else?

I think they also think Phil knows that it would be a tough sell to the fanbase. Rob Lewis kind of hinted at it yesterday on the radio.

Listen, it may end up that Kevin Steele is the hire. But it's not done yet and they're trying to avoid it if possible.

He has been DC for Ohio St and UGA plus 3 NFL teams and he is 45, yet you wanted Dave Doeren. He was also an interim HC in the NFL and has killed it in Atlanta in recruiting.

Why is Miles no longer a candidate? He would have been excellent here and wants the job. I just don't trust Pruitt.
