Steele gonna get trotted and I'ma head for the door. Check back in in August and be a regular in the BB forum, I guess.

If Phil trots Steele and we beat UNC in BB, TBA will be absolutely packed the rest of the season. Everyone around Knoxville will become huge basketball fans to forget football for a while.

We'll be a basketball school. I love Fulmer, but Blackburn would be better AD if he gives us Steele just because he was a VOL.

I just don't think there's a really good option at this point. Unless someone comes in and completely blows away expectations do you really see any of these names being thrown out winning championships here?

No..but I do see some that could stabilize. Hoke and Steele are program suicide.

There is something weird going on..

Brohm's name was thrown around everywhere. We talk to him, he signs then Bev rejects.

He hasn't got a raise and nobody is talking about him now.

The players were all in on Tee, but Fulmer who was his coach, has not talked to him?

That is odd. I would love if they got Brohm. Maybe help him out on the defensive side with some VFL type coaches.

Brohm
Morris
Venables
Pruitt (ugh)

The only positive thing I would say about Steele is that he is not Schiano. That is it.

My experience as a fan has mostly sucked for the last decade.

My manfruit is tender, and cannot take another swift kick today. Please don’t blow this

on Twitter some boilermaker fans are a bit worried about the VOLS:

Are we sure about Brohm signing as fact? There are some industry people saying that scenario never happened.

I find it amazing that Florida State targeted Willie Taggart from the beginning of the rumors that Jimbo would listen to A&M, yet our brass didn’t go all in on landing him. Smh
It’s really hard to believe in anyone up there at this point. Currie I had no faith in, I actually believe Phil wants us to be great but I’m still at the stage of “i’ll Believe the culture change when I see it “

I’ve read the tea leaves on this search and I think we called everyone and we were willing to throw big dollars around (i.e., we are committed). I just think our job isn’t attractive at the moment, particularly with Bama and UGA in the playoff and Florida landing Mullen. Coaches go where they think they can win, and they think it is too hard to win at Tennessee at the level our fans want and expect to win.

I think that is one of the cold hard truths Hubbs and others are trying to tell us. Seems evident from the Yahoo and Football Scoop updates that say our search has been thorough.

I'm not sure about now, but I believe Hyams had the best sources before Phil became AD. I think something happened there.

I'm like the rest of you guys, searching for some kind of hope that we get a good coach.. I worry that Hubbs keeps repeating the name Steele.

Steele simply cannot be trotted out there. Phil will be done as an AD before he gets started if he pulls that stunt. Same with Mack Brown. As others have said, basketball school here we come.

If Brohm is back into it the mix, so am I. Still think he is a HR hire that will need a few years to build it the right way. He develops well and gets his players to play hard. Has developed a big time offensive scheme that can score the ball even with less talented players. Same with Venables and Morris as to leadership and skillsets. We have something positive to look forward to with those three. A Miles/Tee combo would be the same way IMO.

But it needs to happen instead of all this speculating every day.

Certainly not a job for the faint of heart (pun intended).
Phil just needs to find someone who isn't a candyass.

If it's Steele, I suppose he can surround himself with good help, but I worry about a coach who has problems with nerves. I could see him as DC, but... we are not the nicest fan base when unhappy.

I can not believe Phil hasn't talked to Tee. I think (HOPE) that the Press isn't getting the whole picture.

Logically, this makes sense. I just afraid PF may think he knows best and has somehow convinced himself Steele is the best for whatever reason.

So on the Oregon Schiano thing.
Basically their administration floats the name, the fans give horrible feedback, their administration moves on.
Same feedback here and our administration goes with "shove it down their throats but do it in secret.

I love UT but they're truly testing that love.
