No I get that, but without the monstrous tsunami of backlash by the pheasants it was going to happen. The boosters would have pulled their pledges, but by that time Schiano would have been signed sealed and delivered.
Now people of one group or another are going to try to lay claim to saving Vol football with during the Insurrection at K-Town. Nah.
Vol fans across the board did the job. Some boosters did because of connections and families and businesses interests and love of UT. Legislators did because of constituents' votes and families and love of UT. Average folks did it because of families and love of UT. We are one in voice on this issue.

Totally disagree. It got stopped cold by people that had the clout and used it.
The fan aftermath is what the media jumped on because it made a great story for a few days.
The only thing I dont know is whether the fan backlash by itself could have prevented it. Jimmy Haslem didn't care he had his man. Or thought he did for the second time.
The thing is I know I'm not always right and a good argument can win me over. I know what Beecher was saying, and I know the donors were going to pitch a major fit, but by that time pissyfit phone calls to a voicemailbox wasn't going to stop it from happening..VN stopped it dead in its tracks, don't try to take that from us.
