I will double my TN Fund donation if Gundy shows up having bleached the Mullet and cuts a full on 1980s Ric Flair heel promo in his opening press conference.

"IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, YOU BETTER LEARN TO LOVE IT >WHOOO<, 'CUZ ITS THE BEST THING GOING TODAY!

WHOOOO!!!"

We get Gundy, we suddenly have one of the best coaches in the SEC. I'm excited there is a chance.

Now people of one group or another are going to try to lay claim to saving Vol football with during the Insurrection at K-Town. Nah.

Vol fans across the board did the job. Some boosters did because of connections and families and businesses interests and love of UT. Legislators did because of constituents' votes and families and love of UT. Average folks did it because of families and love of UT. We are one in voice on this issue.

No I get that, but without the monstrous tsunami of backlash by the pheasants it was going to happen. The boosters would have pulled their pledges, but by that time Schiano would have been signed sealed and delivered.

Totally disagree. It got stopped cold by people that had the clout and used it.

The fan aftermath is what the media jumped on because it made a great story for a few days.

The only thing I dont know is whether the fan backlash by itself could have prevented it. Jimmy Haslem didn't care he had his man. Or thought he did for the second time.

Agreed, but I don't even care. Let them take credit. At the end of the day, Greg Schiano will still be in Columbus and Mike Gundy will (hopefully) be in Knoxville.

If this stretches out for too much longer....

I'll agree to that.

Man come on...We don't matter?

The thing is I know I'm not always right and a good argument can win me over. I know what Beecher was saying, and I know the donors were going to pitch a major fit, but by that time pissyfit phone calls to a voicemailbox wasn't going to stop it from happening..VN stopped it dead in its tracks, don't try to take that from us.

It was more than just donors. And there were a many of them, including some of the top tier guys.

UT fans have pride, Im not trying to strip that away in any sense. That was just the aftermath.

Charles Davis knew about the hire the day before based on his on-air statement. If the boosters stopped it, Currie would not have been at the table the next day signing an MOU unless Charles gets info before the guys that give the biggest donations. Doubtful.

I think this is going to leak tonight one way or another. He'll either tell his team he's staying or going and we'll know immediately.

Charles is well connected outside UT.
