HARD TRUTHS TO SWALLOW

HYAMS IS GOOFY, BUT WELL-INFORMED.
After weeks of bashing Hyams, we must now accept that he’s been right all along. He had access to Currie, while Wallace, Brice, and our own insiders had access to prominent boosters or other members of the AD. Since Currie/Haslam went rogue, we were all misinformed, while Hyams relayed the facts straight from the horse’s (or jackass’s) mouth.

GRUDEN IS NOT COMING.
I have finally accepted that Gruden is NOT an option. Yes, we could have had him. Yes, he was served up by prominent boosters. I had a heart-to-heart yesterday with a trusted reporter who assured me Gruden had come to an agreement on the 13th, but “backed off five days later.” I asked if he “backed off” because Currie failed to show legitimate interest, and the reporter respectfully declined to respond. Regardless, that ship has sailed, and we must accept Hyams’ reports that Gundy, Morris, Pruitt, and Steele are the top remaining candidates. Gundy is likely to decline our offer, which will leave us with three uninspiring options.

CURRIE WILL CHOOSE OUR NEXT COACH
We can fight to remove Currie. And we will win. But he will make this hire. Why? Because no one else is dumb enough to take the risk of making it. If Blackburn took over at this point, he would inherent a losing hand. Currie made his bed. He’ll now be forced to lie in it. And we’ll most likely be forced to endure another 3-plus years of mediocrity, the only consolation being that Currie will no longer be our AD after this debacle.

Currie needs to get off the road now!! If he makes a hire we will not get rid of him.

Currie WILL imho make this hire and it will set us back another 10 years but Currie will be gone within the next two..... when it is to late...

Sorry to say but that is just my opinion

6 years.....$4.5 million dollars. Currie is a fool.

UCLA is paying Chip Kelly $4.6 million for 5 years. Chip Kelly at Oregon was 46-7 with four consecutive BCS bowl game appearances including the 2011 BCS National Championship Game.

That's reason enough to fire him right there.

Can you believe that? It's unbelievable. This whole situation just makes me sick.

Regarding Gundy:
We expect the guys who just tried to screw us over to go after a homerun hire now? With sacks of cash and he's not even one of Sexton's guys?

No. And again, I'll feast on crow if this goes through, but this is Currie appeasing the fans. He's going after the one guy who is LEAST likely to leave his current place. The guy went to, played for and worked for his alma mater and has found unprecedented success there. Why would he leave, and why would his name come up out of nowhere just now? After he's rebuffed countless offers in the past?

I know we've spoken to him before, but this reeks of more sleight of hand, to get people on Currie's side again for "trying" to land a "big time coach."

If this goes through, I really like Gundy. I think we'd be at least a top 15 team with him, but I'm not convinced it will happen.

John Feinstein just brought up TN fans reactions to Schiano based on the Penn St stuff. He ended with asking if we would have reacted the same way if Gruden had been at Penn St at the same time and we would have offered him.

Jon Gruden would have spoken up about any abuse he knew of then left that program. Am I right?

This is heartbreaking. We stopped Schiano but apparently not Currie. We need more juice.

Currie should not be allowed to make this hire.

I don't care if he convinced Jesus himself to take the job that decision should not be allowed to be made by Currie.

Fulmer should make this hire. No one else. No other influence from anyone.

I have some info that I am trying to get permission to share. It absolutely 100% confirms Haslams involvement and that he is trying to do damage control. Please Vol Nation do not let up !!!

If you can’t outright tell us at least give some clues. We have some extremely talented and resourceful people here who can connect the dots
