Chris Petersen thread (merged)

I think it's interesting that the initial "report" was that a hire would definitely be made by like December 10th or whatever...and now it's definitely going to happen this weekend after Washington unexpectedly lost its Pac 12 title bid. Is it wishful thinking? Of course. But I can't help but ponder...

Maybe we got our man why wait it out?

Curious question on Perersen and the Pac-12 championship. If Washington beats Washington State tonight, are they in the conference championship? Reason I'm asking, if it is Petersen and they do win tonight and all these rumors about an announcement tomorrow are true, would that be put off till after the championship game? This may have already been asked, so my apologies if it's already been covered. Thanks!

No, Stanford would be in.

Is it Perersens decision or UT?

I would say both. they have to agree and might be close. no one has those details and I wouldn't trust anything until an announcement.. on anyone.... Currie is a master. just ask any media person.. I've just heard enough to believe he is a serious candidate..

Would you say this is pretty serious?

as good as anyone else.. He is my leader at this juncture.. see what happens.. don't think the decision has been made yet..

Do you think he truly wants out of Washington or do you think it’s more of a leverage ploy? The only reason I ask is to my knowledge he has never had a major coaching job in the East. Let’s say ASU were to open up, do you think UT would be willing to throw out a number that would make it hard to pass up?

I believe he has serious interest in Tennessee. Has in the past. He has a close connection with Tennessee..

there has not been a decision on an announcement. There has been orders to prepare IN CASE they want to make an announcement. Heard about preparation orders two days ago.

Sounds fishy to me Larry. I don't understand having dozens of people plan their entire Sunday just on an off chance they decide to make an announcement. It has to be done or dang close to done. Why would you tell them to stand by if you are merely in preliminary talks with a coach?

Have you heard anything on Frost? I would much rather have Petersen but in conversation with someone that speaks directly to Currie that Frost was his #1 and that he "has his guy". I am starting to think Currie is either a master at misinformation or in over his head lol.

I would rather have Petersen than anyone else discussed but no one I know seem to think its probable at all. With that said I think you are way more connected than I and if you give it better than a 50-50 chance then I am hopeful!

All the Petersen smoke came from nowhere it seems and has not made its way to the media yet. If thats how Currie operates and lands Peterson then :dance2:
