1. Refuse to let your top 3 candidates all turn you down, accept the stalking charges if necessary.

2. Explain to the team that the goal is the end zone, not the red zone

3.Fire Bart Fricks.
Not sure if this helps the team win but I'm petty and vengeful.

I do have a question about NFL.

Wouldn't the coach have to be fired ? Typically you don't see a NFL coach come out and say I will be coaching in college next season.

It better be expensive.

I know how hard it is to hire a coach but the problem is that we have screwed it up 3 times in a row. The UTAD has burned up all their equity with fans. We don’t want excuses. That’s what we’ve got since 2008.

They never should have let it slip this far. We’ve got an athletic department with too many concerns other than winning where it counts and that’s why we are where we are.

Time to hit a homerun.

I feel like I’m on the verge of going on a two day rant.

I agree with you on the Brohm/Norvell hire. They would just be the same as Butch never coaching on the big stage and look what happened why would we go through that.

The thing that is starting to scare me is it's starting to look worse as a job perception goes. Unreal fan/job expectations, roster is looking worse each game, toughest schedule, recruiting has fallen off the last two years, looking at a total rebuild. If he does have Grud or anyone he needs announce it very soon as to avoid coaches avoiding us.

Just made it back to the hotel from the game.

Two thoughts:

The boys showed fight but turnovers and field position killed us.

Larry Scott as OC took would should have been a 9-3 team and made us 4-8/5-7.

Apparently because he learned to call plays from our offensive guru, Butch.

Get what you’re saying but UT can’t use that as an excuse.

UT should have thought about that when they brought Dooley back for his third year. Should’ve thought about that when we bring CBJ back for a fifth year with mass coaching turnover.

It’s time for this athletic department to step up and make a great hire in spite of the mess they have created.

If we miss on all our top guys (Gruden, Patterson, Mullen, Frost) then we seriously should go get Mike Houston from JMU before a Norvell or Brohm or Morris.

JMU is dominant. They haven’t given up more than 14 points all year (even when they went to ECU and blew them out 34-14).

He would be our Jim Tressel.

I did cliff notes when Currie announced the firing of Butch/beginning of search for replacement and just focused on anything regarding the search. I never posted them at the time but maybe now is a good time to review them as we count down the days until 11/28. :)

-Exhaustive search
-Person of highest integrity and character
-Skills and vision to propel TN to championships

-Sole Focus
-Emphasize commitment to hire best coach at TN
-Do not plan to comment on search publicly until prepared to introduce new Head Coach
-New Coach must have dynamic leadership ability and vision
-Will rely on some relationships across intercollegiate athletics and some folks in and around this community
-No search firm at this time
-On head coaching experience - need to hire best coach for univ of TN. There are lots of different experiences out there that are relevant to our environment,
-Obviously we need to hire someone who understands the magnitude that comes along with the job and the opportunities and responsibilities that come along with being the HFC at univ of TN.
-Fortunate that we have the ability to manage the buyouts, attract the next coach, and march ahead with projects we've talked about recently without impacting the finances of our day to day operations.
-On money being an issue in the hire - we could always use some more around here but we know we have the resources to make the right decision to select the next leader of our FB program.
-On his being tied to this hire - I'm really superfluous; I understand the responsibilities. I understand what is at stake.
-Things are better for the next staff in a number of areas.
-On relying on Fulmer - An extraordinary resource in lots of ways - we have a number of great resources around here
-The reunion of the '97 team is to remind us all what it's supposed to look like at univ of TN.
-Butch Jones was fired because we haven't won enough.
-On navigating rumors - Important for me not to add to misinformation. Will not be responding to any specific candidates or specific rumors.
-Unless you hear it from me - don't believe it.
-On NFL candidates - can't say anymore than has already been said.
-On turnover - the old days of having someone for 15, 20, or 30 years just doesn't exist anymore. Transition is part of our enterprise and preparedness for transition is part of my responsibility.

Oh I agree. It's not so much as an excuse but rather it's becoming reality. They have to make a great hire or we won't be great hell even mediocre for 10+ years.

Hindsight is always 20/20, IF CBJ was searching for other work i would have fired him then how can you trust he will put his best foot forward when he has halfway checked out. Or I would have fired him and Scott after Georgia or Bama this year. If your only excuse is that CBJ was your best shot at a bowl game that is just maddening. Get a jump on finding the replacement and start to repair the damage.

They are going to have to change our reality. Just like other programs have done with great hires.

They better go big or they better get extremely lucky.

And, then you have this assmunch from ESPN tweeting this picture to make it appear like Tennessee is not supporting their team. Never mind that the monsoon was about to hit and never mind everyone else said it was a great crowd.

I just don’t understand why everyone wants Tennessee to be bad.

Brohm or Norvell and I’m out. I’ll watch the basketball team and the softball team and wait for football to heal on its own.

This is not just for you, but here is what everyone who says they're out will actually do...

To make it worse that pic was taken during halftime. Kickers are warming up and there’s a monsoon about to hit.

What a jackass. Purple Vandy fan too I might add.

Nah man. I will hit eject. Got too many things pulling me as is and can better spend my time elsewhere. If I had said this in the past it would have been a lie. Not this time though.
