This team doesn’t need a bowl game. It needs to get healthy and start building up with S&C for next year.

Bingo. We need spring practice, but I’m not so sure we will be healthy enough to go through it. Maybe they should focus on getting healthy and S&C in the spring, and just take mental and leadership reps for the entire spring practice.

Looking at the other candidates outside of Gruden. We absolutely must bring in a guy who has been around and been instrumental in a big time championship caliber program.

Dan Mullen - knows the SEC, OC for two NC teams
Scott Frost - OC at Oregon for playoff team
Gary Patterson - played in 2 BCS bowls, won big 12, finished in the top 10 six times

Then you have guys like Morris and Durkin who have been instrumental for Dabo, Harbaugh and Urban on big time winners.

This is what scares me the most about guys like Brohm and Norvell. Are they good coaches? Sure. But they haven’t been around the big time and this job could very easily swallow them. Brohm and Norvell are in the same category as CBJ even though both are likely better than him. This job is too much of a step up for them imo. Frost Durkin and Morris would all be better picks than them.

We don’t need to go past our top 3 which I hope are Gruden, Mullen, Frost.

Peace out, nerds.

This homeboy needs another hiatus. Don’t do anything Catbone wouldn’t do while I’m gone.

Rocktopper16, hope you get to feeling better and the Good Lord heals you. You’re in good hands. Hope you get to go home soon, and that new baby of yours on the way ushers in a new Vol Dynasty.

Go Vols! Hang in there my friends!!

See you tomorrow.

Sat out in the rain for the whole game. This is sad, but today was probably the most fun I’ve had in Neyland this season. We shoot ourselves in the foot so much, which with the whole being bad at football related tasks, sure does make getting W’s hard.

I read through what I missed. Do I need to make a negative review of Calhoun’s on Trip Advisor?

There is nothing like Neyland.

That classic shots of the Vols fans cheering while their clothes were blowing off.

The scene in the tunnel after the half with the wind and rain blowing a thousand miles and hour, fLSU players bouncing and Orgeron yelling something about Football being the greatest.

Wolf saying when he looked up, it was like a gallon of water was poured on his face, so we know why poor Calloway had so much trouble.

Then there was the ball blowing around after it was set, and kicking a field goal was almost hilarious.

I wish we had won. We better get a good coach.

Post in ff says Currie will be in Bahamas with b-ball team Monday. Anyone know if true?

I got with my husband on that this morning: He said he might go down there and join his family "one day" not Monday. He said that he was doing a National coaching search.

I will say for the 5th time- No way Currie gets a lower tier guy at this point with him saying he's swinging for fences and has a mint to spend.
I am serious when I say if he brings in a dud after all of this, Volnation will literally riot, he will get roasted, He will show everyone what a clown of a AD he is, and this program will officially implode.
Something good HAS to come from all of this.

Not many in here want to listen and believe it’s Gruden, but you don’t throw out the words expensive and explosive to relate to this hire, unless you already have your expensive and explosive guy locked up. Currie is smarter than that...there’s no way he uses those words unless he already knew who he would be hiring.

Do we know for sure that Currie actually used the words expensive and explosive?

RTI Nathaniel Rutherford said a booster told him that Currie said our next hire would be big, expensive, explosive. Apparently he said it on Basilo’s show so there’s not a tweet or a link. But if you search for it on twitter you can find people commenting on it when he said it.

We don’t know that it’s true though.

I saw Price speaking directly to Currie on the sideline tonight. Does not make me think this information is anymore true. Makes me think more that VQ is in fact AD driven and only reports what the school tells them too. No way any normal reporter just gets to walk up to the AD in the middle of a game and chit chat.

Winner winner chicken dinner

What is disgusting is that UCF and Memphis can hire good coaches every couple years and we can't in a decade.

Makes me think we should go after Mike Houston.. You know he is going to move up to that step and probably be the next great thing.. It would be better than someone's used furniture.

If we cleaned house last year after Butch lost to Vandy we would be looking a lot better right now. Not sure who we would have hired though.

Exactly what we should have done, since Butch was looking so hard to find a job elsewhere. If Currie hadn’t just started, he may have done it.

This is the mentality I don't get. If we want to be truly competitive in the SEC we MUST spend the money on a price coach who can consistently recruit top 5 teams. Top 5. Not top 5 in the SEC. A proven coach knows how to recruit talent and develope that talent. Norvell isn't going to come in and recruit a top 5 national class let alone a top 5 sec class. Neither is Brohm and although I really like Mullen I have concerns about his ability to do it consistently.

If I'm Currie I give Gruden until noon tomorrow and then I take all that money and make Paterson tell is no.

Why does Currie need to give Gruden to noon, when he already has him signed?

I definitely think Currie has his man. Is it Gruden not so sure. My theory is Gruden will be described as instrumental in getting this mystery coach hired .

We were warned Currie is a cloak and dagger AD.
Three reasons to hold out on announcing.
1. Sitting coach wants to keep it quiet till regular season ends. CFB or NFL season.

2. Announce this week to setup big recuiting weekend .
Holding out of respect for current staff trying to make a bowl evaporated last night.

3. Currie has not reeled anyone in.

Thanks. I remember the comment I just wasn’t sure if anyone had corroborated it.

I agree with some of this. No way we wait for a NFL coach to announce at the end of their season. If it’s a NFL coach, then Currie had to have told him that it has to be announced after the Vandy game at the latest, due to the early signing period.

If Gruden is being used as an instrument to help make this hire, and isn’t the hire, then I feel very good about who we will announce, because I believe it will be a homerun.

If he turns us down again the love affair with him will be over.
