Official Jon Gruden Thread 34

JG said he hadn’t talked to anyone; doesn’t mean his agent/team hasn’t talked to people on his behalf.

Exactly, and if he hasn't talked directly with UT he will very soon. NO WAY UT doesn't talk to Gruden. If that is true Currie will be toasted and roasted. Folks believing that are the ones that need to get their heads out of the sand!!!!! SOON! LOCK DOWN GRUDEN! GRUDEN TO THE HILL!!!!!!!!!

After what Jon Gruden stated this morning, a lot of things I was thinking was confirmed. First, all of these alleged people "in the know" are nothing but frauds who got a lot of people wanting Gruden all hyped up. In other words, a lot of people have been played here. I think it is funny how gullible so many people are!

To be clear, I am not opposed to Gruden being the head coach as long as he proves to be a WINNER! No sure bets on anybody but the responsibility for this hire rests on Currie ultimately. I believe this is probably the most important hire in the HISTORY of Tennessee football. We are at a crossroads.

I also think paying someone 10 million a year is ridiculous! No person who works for the public should be paid 10 million a year. However, this is the state of college football today.

Bottom line, I expect Currie to hire a WINNER and nobody will know if he makes the right decision or not for another three years. I know a lot of posters on her are frauds. I also know there are a lot of gullible people on Volnation. Finally, I think the "business of college football" has gotten out of hand and the public needs to step up!

Great Post^^^^

Not sure if this has been pointed out yet but look at the twitter title for the Mike and Mike interview this morning...."We couldn’t have one last visit with Jon Gruden without addressing the latest “returning to coaching rumors.” #Vols

Why would they say one last visit? Boom!

He's undecided and while UT is waiting, Florida is going to hire the best college coach available in Chip Kelly. Chip Kelly to Florida is equivalent to Nick Saban to Alabama. Another nightmare scenario for the Vols.

Kelly to Florida is the only hire I don’t want. Hopefully UCLA will have an opening and hire Kelly.

Because M&M is ending their show.

You don't seem like a very happy person in general.

They have support groups for that or you can start your own.

Why don't you do that and report back later and tell us how it goes?

because Mike and Mike is over, they are moving on to other things, so this is last time they will have him on their show.

I've decided that Gruden is going to coach football next year. I don't think it's in the NFL. I don't believe it would be any school other than UT.

I believe his comment this morning about being sensitive to other coaches was in reference to coaches he's contacted personally or through agents.

I believe his comment about keeping the job he's got was referring to wanting to finish MNF.

No one else has to believe any of this. I've tried as best as I could to find logic and truth in everything I've read here, what I've heard on the radio and what I've heard myself from someone I trust. I want Gruden more than any other living coach, but I didn't want to "blind follow".

Sorry if tl'dr.

I'm firmly at 95%. Chit happens, but I don't believe it will. If it does it does? Life goes on.

tl;dr but I read it anyway. :)

Here's what I believe, as of this morning:

-- Jon Gruden is pretty much locked in. He won't sign until he knows he has all the assets ($$) he needs to pay his dream team staff, and he won't know how much that is until he gets them all to agree to joining him; hence the hiccups.

-- As of yesterday or the day before, there were "a few" hurdles remaining on "Jon's side" (which I believe = luring in the assistant coaches he wants), and one hurdle remaining on the university's side (which probably has something to do with administration approval, or financing, or getting the state government to grant an exception to some state law that doesn't fit the Gruden agreement, something like that).

-- The big movement yesterday or the day before, where we saw insiders suddenly breathe one sigh of relief, was Tee Martin changing his mind (dunno how Jon & John convinced him, but I think they did). So Tee's gonna be our OC.

-- Two big things could happen today: getting the DC nailed down, and getting that university action taken care of. Maybe a third as well, with this rumor of wanting to find a place in the organization for Peyton, and talking him into it.

So yeah, I'm pretty psyched. I think this now has so much momentum that it almost can't fall apart. Almost, because anything can happen and the weirdest things sometimes do. But I think it's all really settling into place nicely. Still thinking Nov 27th +/- 7 days is the window for announcement.

DISCLAIMER: this is 100% speculation on my part, and a desire to give Behr another tl;dr moment. :)

Go Vols!

Can we please, for the love of all that’s good in this world, stop quoting the trolls!? They have an agenda and every time you quote them and reply, even with a gtfo, it validates them. Ignore them like the snowflakes they are and this thread can roll on. Please.
