Official Jon Gruden Thread 34

I took his never say never as a reference to him keeping his ESPN job.
Since right before he said that he was talking about his job and said and as you guys know ...

ESPN is hemorrhaging money, JG is the highest paid employee. I can see them "negotiating" his resignation. And, this may be the holdup on the entire thing. He may have a handshake deal in place with UT, but ESPN is dragging it out over $$$.

I've been accused of having blind faith for a number of years now.

So if all I've got right now, regarding Gruden becoming coach at UT, is blind faith, then let me quote a good book:
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."

Faith believes so strongly that even without substance, it still hopes.
Faith believes so strongly that even without evidence, it still sees and believes.

Now, here's the kicker about blind faith; the risk/reward. You see, the worst thing that happens if that which we've hoped for does not come to pass is, we're disappointed for a while and move on. But ...... if what we've hoped for comes to pass, the jubilation is off the charts!

When that which has long been hoped for provides substance ...
When that which has been believed provides evidence that is now seen ...

So go ahead, accuse me of having blind faith, and continue on with your miserable life, while I continue to hope and believe.
And if you are proven to be right, then sure, I'll be upset for a little while and get over it, while you continue on in a miserable existence.

He's undecided and while UT is waiting, Florida is going to hire the best college coach available in Chip Kelly. Chip Kelly to Florida is equivalent to Nick Saban to Alabama. Another nightmare scenario for the Vols.

You meant best available outside of JG

We are the football forum. If we want to be closed minded, juvenile jerks, we can ask to be put in the pub. :)

See, that part I disagree with.

Yes, the Official JG threads are IN the football forum, but they are most definitely distinct FROM the football forum.

It's a different community (though in the past few days the two groups are mingling quite a bit). A whole different feel.

The JG thread community feels a lot like the football forum in general felt when I joined, two years ago. And feels nothing like the FF feels today. Far, far better community atmosphere here than "out there."

Ain't happening.

There is not one credible piece of evidence.

Basing hopes on All of these cryptic messages from posters who claim to know somenting but don't know any more than I do is silly.

If and I say if it was happening there would be very few in the AD who knew anything. Based on what I read here and if it were true the AD has more leaks than the TRump administration in the first 6 months

So if it outright is not happening why has he been to knoxville four times in five weeks.... and why was he there yesterday and today!

so why would he take a NCAA job, if a NFL team comes courting?

Cause the NFL blows, and the Tennessee job is the best job in the history of football.
Now turn in your VFL card, and go over to the Mullen thread as punishment.
Mike Griffith will greet you at the door, and will give you a sensual body massage as Justin Bieber plays in the background.

Not so dumb....sounds like something Kiffin would do....

I don’t think Kiffin would do it. I mean ... he used to be head coach here. I think he’s come back as head coach, but not OC. He’ll get another HC job soon enough at a power school. He’s too good, even with the baggage.

And the point that Fulmer wouldn’t want him here is also another reason why this makes no sense.

Chip Kelly isn’t in our fantasy. Don’t be care what UF does either. You leave through the nearest exit.

After what Curry said after Butch's firing, I don't think he's interested in any coach with NCAA baggage so we weren't going to be looking at him anyway.

Yeah, didn’t Fulmer openly refer to him as a jackass after Kiffin left?

I think you know ? That I have been told Lane Kiffin would be the OC..... the same person also mentioned Ron Zook as DC... I just don't know?

But that could certainly be the pivotal issue !

Did I miss something overnight?

Ah, I didn't know this about you. My apologies for not knowing you also are a Grudenite. :)

I don't count myself as one, but that's mainly because I feel really "johnny-come-lately" compared to all the folks who have kept the hope alive for five long years.

Definitely want Jon to be our next head coach, though. Think he's the answer.

Go Vols!

I'm not either after being left at the alter in 2012. But, I would be elated if h chose to leave MNF and come to UT. Kelly is the top coach on the board in my opinion and if he goes to Florida that is a complete disaster for the Vols. Therefore, the Vols must land Gruden!
