Also, talk of Florida hiring Chip Kelly by this weekend. What if we announced Jon Gruden same day or the day before to take off some of their luster.

He @ESPNRittenberg said on the show that Nebraska has made it's intentions known to the folks at UCF that they want Scott Frost. #Huskers

Ok guys. Grudecon level 3 here

I have a source. For the first and probably last time, I have a Grumor for you.

My dad is retired but works part time at a golf course in Tennessee. One of the regulars who plays out there that my dad knows well. In other words, guy isn’t a liar. He told my dad that he played Golf with Kippy Brown last week and that while they were playing, Kippy got a call from Gruden asking him if he would be interested in coaching college football as part of his staff.

I am not making this up. This is legit info.

He’s coming!

Lol, not even a hint of the Grudemeister.

He just said on his show that he didn't include Gruden or Kelly because he does not think there is any possibility of them coming to UT.

Gruden could have called Cade Mays and his family. I don't think that's unrealistic. Calling anyone else probably is, though. Cade was committed for years and his dad is a VFL. They aren't going to leak it, IMO.

Hank, I am going to assume being in that dept you know the rules. Regarding NCAA rules, would it be a violation for Gruden to reach out to commits?

He would plead ignorance, I mean, he has been an NFL commentator for the past 7 years for goodness sakes.

:)

Nope. Gruden is technically no different then some random person on twitter contacting them. As long as he’s not offering them benefits to stay signed or go to UT then there is no problem.

i know it's a diversion from all the Gruden talk, but man, I'd love Mike Leach to be the new Vols head coach. The dude's record at Texas Tech speaks for itself, and he is the master of the air raid offense, which is so entertaining. I'd just love all the great quotes and the press conferences. He got his start at Kentucky, so he may not be as bad a match to the culture as people think. I don't think that he'll be in the running, but it'd be interesting if he came here. I don't see any reason for a good coach to stay in Pullman, WA very long.

It would no doubt be entertaining.

It’s a great fit for him there. Low media attention, low expectations, he has free reign over his program, the culture there isn’t a hot box like it is here. He is a very good coach but he would hate it here.

He couldn't represent himself as a coach of Tenn without being certified by the NCAA. He would have to pass the NCAA recruiting certification test to do so.

Dang it, I wanted to make up a fake grumor first. You beat me to it.

Good move on their part. Take him off the Florida and UT lists. Probably why Florida has move on to Kelly and Mullen. If they end up with either and we miss on Gruden things are going to suck even more than they do now.
