Someone posted in the Gruden thread that one of Cade's teammates said that the new coach had called him. They specifically asked if it was Hoke, and he said no. Silly season is upon us. Unfortunately, it was unofficially upon us 6 weeks ago.

This will most likely be immediately written off by most people here, but a teammate of Cade told me that hes been contacted by the "new coach" today. I asked if he meant Hoke and he said no.

Didn't seem like even he knew who it was.

I'm not sure but I would think so. There's got to be a rule that makes sense for situations like this.

Well, my point stands but I apologize for thinking the NCAA has a rule that makes sense...that's an incredibly stupid statement.

One thing is for sure. IF Gruden has reached out to a player(s) it will be announced before the week. No way in heck 18 year old kids are keeping that under wraps for 2 weeks.

Don't do it..I'm not. I'll be excited about Jon Gruden when he walks up to the podium, untill then to me he is just another fantasy creature like fairys, unicorns or dragons.

It would be good if they did because Gruden can take as many in home visits as he wants until he is officially named the new head coach

I bet if we went back and pulled the last 9 years of MNF and ESPN clips featuring Gruden we could put together a pretty convincing voice simulator. We could start robo-calling random recruits and just see how well dude can recruit on name alone...

I don't think that's necessarily the case. For example, he could have called Kevin Mays and then talked to Cade that way. A trusted family. But he wouldn't just call anyone, IMO.
