He's going to Georgia cause he's weak. As you said, a great player will make it to the NFL regardless of where he is. But this deal with Cade Mays shows his character. I'm typically not hard on kids who decide to not go to Tennessee. I didn't attack Tee Higgins last year when he chose Clemson.

But this deal with Cade Mays is different. He isn't just a local kid, he's also the son of a VFL. He has been committed for over 2 years and was one of the most vocal peer recruiters that put this class together. You would think this would be the one kid that is more loyal to the program than to the current staff or how things look.

Plus the fact he wants to go to a rival like Georgia instead that is riding high this year makes him look even weaker.

Cade Mays = frontrunner

I have seen Cade play several times and I know many people that know him directly and teach him at Catholic. Bottom line about Cade Mays: he possesses all the physical tools, but possesses none of the character tools that are necessary to be successful at the next two levels. I firmly believe Cade will be a bust, so it doesn't really bother me that he decommitted.

I think he should be near the top but you know better than I.

I also wouldn't be surprised if we have a deal with Frost or Taggart.

Pretty sure we don't have a deal with anybody yet. Currie could pull somebody totally unexpected-- he's got different ideas than others so it's wait and see. The only thing he's talking about is reno.

Wow

That's a hot take

A "deal" is strong but to your point, I wouldn't be surprised at all if he's got a guy in pocket.

I think he's doing this alone, despite the "all boosters are working together" nonsense we keep hearing.

As he told someone after the last set of grumors 5 years ago. I'm not the one who said I was a candidate so why you I say I'm not. I do think he likes the chatter out there about him coaching again whether it's Tennessee, Tampa Bay or some other job somewhere.

So I don't see him killing any rumor. And I'm not sure he's as happy as he was five years ago doing MNF and I think MNF is in trouble at ESPN. So his outlook on his next step in life is probably different than it was 5 years ago.

We are all tired of the roller coaster with bad endings. We all have our opinions, but don't control what happens with hiring and firing coaches. Our hope is they hire a slam dunk - Gruden, Kelly, Patterson, Stoops, etc. But it is UT - there is history and it usually ends up with something really out of left field. Even Fulmer taking over from Majors was handled stupidly.

So let's not destroy each other while we wait for the dumpster fire to be put out. Turn the pressure toward who is responsible to get it right. They are the ones that take the money from us when we support the program.

I'm about at the point that I want to just tune everything out until the hire is made. Tired of trying to sift through all of the misinformation.

The only thing is, there are a lot of hyper-talented and successful low character guys in the NFL and there always has.

But I get what you are saying. Those guys are exceptions to the rule.

I'm not really concerned here.

1) Before you hire any coach you call the NCAA and ask them exactly what they have.

2) the NCAA has proven they are very inconsistent when punishing programs. If UNC didn't get busted MSU will be fine.

1. That worked out horribly for the Tyndall hire. That should be a cautionary tale.

I don’t think Butch stays or Bobo comes. Currie has put too much on the line with stadium upgradez. He’s going to have to get somebody that will sell more season tickets and get fans to come to the games.

Yea me either i think they are working on Gruden behind the scenes but just want the smoke to clear

Yep. All those donor events and reno meetings last week made it clear that it's all a bunch of rumors and guessing. If people who donate mid six-figures don't know, the Twitterverse doesn't know.

Dooley actually put together a pretty elite OL. He just didn’t recruit depth - which was one of his biggest issues overall. That 2012 OL was the best one we’ve had in a long long time.

And the 2012 OL recruiting class was the worst ever.

Cade Mays is the most important part of the class by a mile and for several reasons... mainly our O line needs another Trey.
I know these are just kids, but I have to agree with Jacket on this one, if we get a good upgrade of a coach and Cade still goes to GA, have fun in ATL, you know what you are signing up for. Don't think you will be very welcomed in Knoxville moving forward. You will have no problem getting to the NFL at UT, so don't use that as an excuse.

I still think it's a statement that he's not playing for butch. Kid loves Tennessee, any decent coach will be able to reel him back in.

People wouldn't stop coming at me after my comments about him from seeing him play at Maryville in August. All you need to do to know about Cade is talk to a few teachers at Catholic.

Was that you that said he was getting suspended for the season...or some other busybody?

Dan Mullen went 5-7 in the regular season last year, made a bowl game because their APR ranking qualified them, then squeaked out a 17-16 win over Miami, Ohio in the St. Petersburg bowl. For that grand accomplishment Mullen was rewarded this past February (2017) with a 2-year contract extension. If something like that happened at Tennessee there would not only be riots in Knox County, there would be riots in the following Tennessee counties as well.

Anderson County
Bedford County
Benton County
Bledsoe County
Blount County
Bradley County
Campbell County
Cannon County
Carroll County
Carter County
Cheatham County
Chester County
Claiborne County
Clay County
Cocke County
Coffee County
Crockett County
Cumberland County
Davidson County
Decatur County
DeKalb County
Dickson County
Dyer County
Fayette County
Fentress County
Franklin County
Gibson County
Giles County
Grainger County
Greene County
Grundy County
Hamblen County
Hamilton County
Hancock County
Hardeman County
Hardin County
Hawkins County
Haywood County
Henderson County
Henry County
Hickman County
Houston County
Humphreys County
Jackson County
Jefferson County
Johnson County
Lake County
Lauderdale County
Lawrence County
Lewis County
Lincoln County
Loudon County
Macon County
Madison County
Marion County
Marshall County
Maury County
McMinn County
McNairy County
Meigs County
Monroe County
Montgomery County
Moore County
Morgan County
Obion County
Overton County
Perry County
Pickett County
Polk County
Putnam County
Rhea County
Roane County
Robertson County

Trousdale County
Unicoi County
Union County
Van Buren County
Warren County
Washington County
Wayne County
Weakley County
White County
Williamson County
Wilson County

Given the national and international reach of the Tennessee fanbase, we'd likely see riots spreading to other states and eventually other nations (Thailand, China, S. Korea, Germany, etc.) and before you would know it the long awaited WWIII would engulf this entire planet. Even the international space station would not escape the carnage. There could be other civilizations in the galaxy that we don't yet know about but have the technology to follow our games by picking up and decoding signals from our satellites. This could lead to galactic upheaval and even spread to other galaxies. Obviously, the end of the universe is a steep price to pay for such idiocy but it is what it is and we need to think long and hard about the risk reward in a situation like this. jmo.
