I would think so. He should be able to get around 80% of the top recruits in this state fairly easily IMO. I'm kind of with Larry though in that we need to be right up there at the top on a yearly basis if we're going to compete with UGA and Bama on a consistent basis. I'd throw UF in there too if they get Frost.

I'm not going to lie, Finebaum trashing Gruden is the first time I've felt like he legitimately might coach here. If they're already trying to downplay it instead of the usual "LOL YOU LOSERS WILL NEVER GET GRUDEN" stuff...

There's a lot of fat at ESPN. They have too many talking heads and some of them are a ratings zero. They're gonna have to get with that lean, mean Disney model.

If Gruden is hired, it will either be a once in a generation Hire or it will be catastrophic to the Athletic dept and will crush TN Football. I really don't see an in-between.

I hope it's the First.

I just don't want to hire a coach cause he's going to be a splash. I want the best FOOTBALL coach that is going to turn us into a championship level football team every year. If that's Gruden then so be it.

Hadn't thought of it from that perspective but you're right. Usually, it is the whole "you losers..." thing rather than "Gruden sux." That said, those outside of our fanbase know full well we've reached the end of our rope and are liable to do something about it because of that.

Just visited a MSU football forum. A lot of disrespect for UT over there. Most of them are laughing at the idea of Mullen bolting to Tennessee. A lot of "they ain't what they used to be" type comments. Several said it would be a lateral move lol. If Gruden turns it down, I hope we get Mullen not only because he'd be a heck of a hire, but also to piss on their fans.

I understand what you're saying but at the same time Joe Google would be hamstrung the moment he was hired even if he were the best. We're at the point where you bring us a name or else.

That guy thinks he is a celebrity or something. Like how he writes a novel in his love/hate column before he talks about the players. Like anybody wants to read anything he has to say other than which players he would play

Agreed to an extent. If they marched Patterson, Peterson, Stoops, out there, I think fans would be excited. But rite now, people are Gruden or Bust.

Finebaum says whatever he thinks will get UT fans riled up and calling him to rant. Then he can have his pet Bama, UGA and UF fans call in and dump on UT to liven up his snoozer of a show.
