Phrasing answers certain ways makes it easier in the future if things change I would guess.





Its an intriguing situation to watch for sure.

Yeah, he always does that. Inevitably, he's cornered at events and around Knoxville and a donor says, "Hey, Jon, when ya gonna come back and coach the Vols?" And he'll say something like "You know what, man, that'd be wild. Love the Vols!" or "Tennessee, man. Nothing like it."

The Grudens love the Vols and they love having roots in Knoxville. But there's a pretty big gap between thinking you might want to do something someday... and actually committing to doing it now. The ball's in his court. We'll see where it goes.

I've seen it in enough places that my guess is its true.

I don't blame where we are on any of the coaches. I put this all on Hamilton. Could have gotten Patterson in 2009 and I doubt we are in the position we are today.

No one -- not Phillip Fulmer, not Lane Kiffin, not Derek Dooley -- did more to kill Tennessee football than Mike Hamilton. The depths of his incompetence are truly stunning.

That he passed on *Gary Patterson* for Lane Kiffin is just preposterous. The entirety of our last ten years would be completely different were it not for Hambone.

I think Norvell is above Durkin, but that's what most consider the top six. Gruden is in a tier above and Brohm goes on the bottom. His buyout (and the timing) could be an issue.

PLEASE not Durkin. He's supposed to be a defensive coach, and his defense at Maryland has been the worst in the B1G this year. Hard pass. Would much rather an offensive guy like Babers or Morris at the bottom of that list than Durkin.

If that's our worst coach on the list our standards have risen. 2012, Butch was like fourth or fifth down on a list that included Charlie Strong as a top candidate.

Glad we're finally taking football seriously, off the field at least.

IMO, the general feeling is that we won't have to go below the Top 5. UF and aTm could impact that, though.
