Gruden won a title with Dungy players because dungy couldn't win a title with them. He happened to beat his own players at Oakland. So basically all the players in the super bowl could be credited to Gruden as well.

This whole debate is stupid. You don't just win a super bowl by luck. It also wasn't like Gruden was the GM. He was just the HC coaching the players given.

So let's say Dungy can't win a Super Bowl without Peyton, belicheck can't win a super bowl without Brady, guess they are bad coaches too then

Agreed. Gruden won one with freaking Brad Johnson lol

For most it’s a cumulative effect. People are just sick of divisive bs. And a bunch of millionaires who went to college for free talking about oppression rubs people the wrong way. Right or wrong.

The other day some atheletes got mad of the use of the phrase “inmates running the asylum” or whatever. It’s just nonsense. People are so offended over every little thing.

Sports are an escape from that stuff for a lot of people. It’s just really tiresome when you try and watch a game and politics gets forced on you.

On top of that people see it as a slap in the face to our country and those that died for it. Also the NFL product is on the decline as well.

Well systematic oppression hasn't really been easy for people of color the last three hundred years.. so it's entirely reasonable that some snowflake righties would take it super personally that what the flag means to them isn't what it means for other people. I guess they just want their safe space in sports away from Fox News.

Edit: and the owner said "inmates running the PRISON", not the asylum which is the actual colloquialism.. He still made the slip in error, but it's not the prettiest error to make when you run an organization that's like 90% black.. and blacks are 5x more likely to wind up in prison than whites.

Chief can’t find the podcast. Wallace said he’s 60% on Gruden. Said offer is in hand. He was defensive about his credibility. Said Tennessee has 3 guys in line should Gruden fall through Mullen, Gundy, Brohm. Said had Mullen in their back pocket. I caught the interview a few minutes in.

That Mullen news shocked me the most

I'm all in for Gruden, but my likelihood meter says 60% Mullen, 20% Gruden, 20% other.

Interesting discussion though!

Nice, thank you! I guess he's thinking Florida has Frost in the bag. I'm hoping Mullen will be our number two guy unless somebody like Patterson is a legit option.

Why? Seen some pretty legit folks saying sexton has been working Mullen to TN since the beginning of the Butch era being over behind closed doors. Always have had this feeling he is who it ends up being if our dream falls through.

It's the ideal place for Mullen and his wife. She hated Gainesville and loves Starkvillle. She would love Knoxville. Mullen would not have to fully recruit a rebuild to his system because Butch has been trying mimics the Urban Offensive system which was Mullens system that he and Billy G created with Urban at Bowling Green.

There is a kid committed to GA that loves Knoxville but didn't like Butch that is the 100% ideal fit for Mullens system that probably knows he can start day 1 and beat out our current QBs.

You asked why and I gave you some reasons. Snowflake righties? Nice. I’m sure you’re gonna convince a lot of people to hear your side about oppression by name calling them.

As to the owner saying “prison”. BFD. Sounds like maybe someone else needs a safe space.

Finebaum

“No one is trying to hire Gruden other than Tennessee fans. He got ran out of town in Tampa after winning a Super Bowl with Tony Dungy’s players.”

Said he doesn’t really understand why we are so enamored.
Sweet noone else wants him, we'll take him

The way i took it was he’s ours should Gruden fall through. That’s a great coach as a fall back plan.

Finebaum taking a different angle on Gruden every day.

Amazing to me that people listen to him while ripping basilio who does the exact same thing.

As I've said many times I'd be elated with a Mullen hire. My one question with him though would center around recruiting. If we're gonna hang with UGA and Bama, we'll at the very least need to pull a top ten class on a yearly basis IMO. It'd be different if those those two programs didn't develop their talent, but Alabama certainly does and it's looking like UGA does as well.

Here are cliff notes from Wallace’s interview on 104.5 I think it was. Sorry In advance for clogging up the thread with this long post. Also, NB4 tl;dr.

Trey Wallace:

"It is a fluid situation with TN right now."

"Offered Gruden 10.2 million including incentives."

"Told by people in NFL & by people at TN that things are different than 2012"

“The money men have seen what has gone one for the past 7-8 years and are tired of it."

"TN is not going to go out and hire another coach like Dooley or Jones again."

“We are not reporting grumors. We are reporting truthfully what we are hearing."

"Gruden has had access to the Pilot plane since the GA game"

"There is a reason Jimmy H is offering up him to use his jet for whatever he wants."

"You are not going to see the media say anything in Knoxville because what happened in 2012."

"TN has a good chance at landing JG as their next coach. I put it at 60%."

“The Florida firing put TN is on notice."

"Curry does not want to throw in an interim coach for the last few games. It is not hurting ticket sales so what is the point of rushing."

"He is not coming back in 2018."

“If he wanted an NFL job, he would have already taken it and you would have already heard about it this year as well."

"Family wants him back in East TN."

"JG is not going to have to go on the road to recruit every day. He finishes the deal."

"Every 14-18 year old kid in the country knows who JG is."

“If you want to fact check me, check my reporting over the last 4 months."

"TN wants to make the homerun hire."

“If JG wanted to put this to rest, he would have put it down over the past 4-5 weeks."

"Butch Jones is not coming back in 2018."

"They have a couple of coaches in their back pocket if they need them. Mullen is one of them."

"The rest of the list is: Gundy, Mullen, Brohm, Petrino"

No, the Beav wants you to believe he has some sort of insider perspective and that internally they find Dan Mullen as repulsive and not an acceptable candidate.

That is outright false and he will likely be our #1 candidate if Gruden turns us down.

Beleive what you want bud.

He recruited well at Florida as OC. He recruited well for being at MS St. I'm not really worried about recruiting. Anyone can recruit to Tn.

Last two COACHES recruited only on hope and barely had any proof they could do what they were selling.

Mullen doesn't have to sell hope. He can show results with Alex Smith/Tebow/Dak and futz to QBs. He can sell real NFL players he coached not just recruited and developed at Florida and Ms St. he has a national championship ring as OC. He got Ms st to 1 in country. It will literally be easy for him to recruit here day 1.

Seeing as how it's the right that has the biggest problem understanding reality... half of them don't even believe the Russia investigation is a thing. Their willing suspense of disbelief is going to give the richest even more of a tax cut to their detriment. Polls are fake because they show Trump at 34% approval.

I'd like to learn more about what a Gruden led offense would look like in college. I remember JAV mentioning a month or so ago that it would be a "power spread" or something like that. There was another Grumor that went around that said he had met with the Eli guy from NC State as well.
