The Gruden was more of a joke about the idiots that think he is coming here. I dont know why Mays decommitted, so i dont assume its because CBJ is still there. So rather than rant about it, ill just see what happens once CBJ is let go at seasons end. I also dont follow recruiting at all.

Man some of you have been brainwashed by Butch with this legacy crap. Kids want to win and move on to the next level. The bologna known as UT football is bottom barrel right now. The Haslams, Currie, Pres, Peyton, Fulmer have to hit a homerun. Mays is long gone, it was just made public today. He told CPF and his dad he wouldn't play for Butch early on in the season, but did his due diligence to stay committed because of his love for UT. This kid and Taylor are being come at hard by Bama, UGA, and Clemson. It's the championship inspirations along with being developed in order to be successful on Sundays. What was best for your dad might not be best for you 18 yrs later. Fans have to face the facts, the HC is BAD the fake culture is BAD, development is BAD, VFL program is and has been a joke since Butch took over, players recruit against their HC, and so on and so on. I'm not saying things to pile on, but I have told ppl repeatedly and been bashed. It's been bad and guys in and around the program have tried to help and had vicious/ malicious lies and rumors spread about them. How does a Power5 SEC team not life In season or do speed training and do 7 on 7 in the off season? Big red flags personally reached out to Azzani to apologize and he giggled and said coach I understand, and rather than be the bad guy I left as did Jake and Janczek. Now my boy AD tells of the HC making him a football employee pay his way to games, pay for his own food and hotel. Wtf get this clown out of here, this doesn't happen even under Dooley.

In context, he posted this in reference IF we made a homerun hire like Gruden. No one blames anyone right now for not wanting to play for Butch. But some were saying he's gone even if we do hire JG. Thus the post you quoted.

I suggest you go back and read my post real slow. Then read it again. Notice the use of the word "if" and the context in which it was used.

Your hate for the Vols astounds me. Why are you here? Go to your Bama board or dawg board. At least the posters of other teams have there allegiance in there screen name.

Not trying to be argumentive but you do know Gruden wanted the UT job in 2012 right? UT screwed it up. I am not saying JG is coming here but there seems to be quite a bit of rumblings and curious things going on. You never know.

As far as Mays goes, I know you dont follow recruiting but I do. Mays was all about Tennessee for the longest time. All over his twitter was Tennessee. Then he just took it all down. I think it was after the Georgia game. Since then he has been looking around. Then there was an interview awhile back with him stating he wants to play for championships. Then we hear Georgia and Clemson are coming hard at him. The signs of Mays decommitment have been present for awhile now. And yes its because of Butch and what he is producing on the field. If not, then Mays could have decommited last year.

Dude Butch is gone. All of these problems won't exist anymore, assuming they make a decent hire. Everyone understands not wanting to play for Butch, I wouldn't want my son to play for him, especially as an OL. But if they love UT it makes sense to see who the hire is before closing the door.

The only "rumblings" about JG coming here are people on vn and those making fun of them. JG is not coming here.

As for Mays, i dont blame him. However, on some radio shows the mentioned that Mays was to happy about how CBJ is being treated, plays ball with CBJs son etc. But either way it doesnt really matter. I think UT was correct in letting CBJ have another year. I think its okay to let him finish this year out. Then see what happens with the new hire. If Mays comes here, he comes here, if he doesnt, he doesnt. UT Football will survive.

He's gone. Hes an EE it's over pretty much. Things could chg but I doubt it. The kid wants to win not be a part of the resurrection and rebuild after CBJ has basically made current and former players against him because he wanted the world to believe but many didn't and thus was called negaVOLS and basically fake banned from being around. Culture, stupid catch phrases, etc have ruined the good he once built following Dooley. Guys who have real potential will bolt if they have legit options. Its just where things are because the powers that be have allowed a dumpster fire to occur.

Under Chaney and Pittman he may have because at the time they wereracking up the really good OL guys from JJ, Stone, Big Zach to Tiny. So never would've happened isn't necessarily true. But I'd say it would've been 50/50. Offensive recruiting wasn't a problem remember they dominated offense and were horrible on defense.

If right coach is hired then hopefully enough guys stay and the right coach can have a good class. The right coach can have is winning in two years with two good classes and good coaching. They make the wrong hire again then we could be waiting for AD. After mine and InVols death. You thought with the new hires things were great. However hindsight is 20 20 for everyone. Butch is gone but maybe you will give the new coach a chance after he's named. I decided a month before where I went to school and changed from where I had committed to go. It can happen but in Cades situation, probably not. I care about the right coach more than Mays.

I agree with you somewhat. All these coaches that hv been here under Butch are bad. For example two are in the NFL, Shoop was a top 5 DC, etc. Some coaches are just idiot micromanaging guys and F up other ppl stuff and cost everyone money ala Lyle Jones and many of these guys are more football guys than him. Guys like Thig were known to be a really good recruiter and LB coach. Under Lyle Jones he had very little talent at LB and has played a walk on w/o talent over scholarship guys. Shoop had top tier defenses at Vandy and PSU and so on here has started the 600+ yard club at UT. So on and so on, but oh well no need to beat a dead horse.

I don't hate the Vols I hate incompetence from the Admin to the football program. They keep hiring idiots who come in and make a mockery of a once prestigious school and program. I hate a liar who spreader rumors and told boosters lies on an organization that no other school in the country has a problem with. A coach who throws anyone under the bus and mistreat players and staff members like 💩. Can't stand when ppl put down the kids over a liar who makes dead end promises and will throw his mother under the bus if it makes himself look good. No coach here has done the minor league things Lyle Jones has done, and yes I hate what's going on because he's fooled so many for so long that many felt everyone from Swain, Deuce White, NPA, JJ McClesky, etc were against the program but weren't and just saw thru the smoke. Sorry if that's how you see it but hey all I said came to light in various ways.

I have never seen a compliance office allow a star player to not have insurance and not check DL status. It's a lot of failures under this guy I can go on and on. But I'm done.

Get over it. Kid might be the next great OL but he might bust. Happens. I remember the kiddies going nuts over Mac videos as well. He was going to simply dominate the SEC and nation. Just too big and too strong to be stopped. Kongbo was a freak of nature. A beast that was going to be an unstoppable force destined to destroy opposing QBs. Richmond was this 5 star stud that we managed to steal away from OM. Biggest concern was could we keep him 4 years. Every year or so it's the same freak out over some superstar in high school or some legacy we just had to have....the Berry boys, Bates, etc, etc, etc. Highlight film always looks great because, well, it's HIGHLIGHTS! Dad probably put it together. Coaches want game tape...full game tape vs the best competition these kids face. Even then they're usually physically dominant at the HS level and one never knows how they will perform on the big stage against players who are equally as talented. It's why these silly rankings aren't the be all and end all. It's why we 2 and 3 star kids end up in the NFL and some 5 star kids doing radio spots for local insurance agencies. Mayes is gone. Won't lose a minute of sleep over it. Good luck to him. Only thing that matters is getting the best head coach we can and letting him rework the staff and roster. Until we get a 5 star coach, nothing else matters.

-Team. that will be lucky to be bowl eligible.
-Fans that want to empty Neyland.

Versus programs that are stable, winning and competing for titles.

I don't care who he goes to school with. Butch should never have a team fighting for Bowl eligibility and winless in the SEC at year 5.

I've wondered about the timing of his decommitment. Why not just continue to take your visits and wait until a new coach is named. What has happened in the last couple of weeks to push him to publicly decommit? I wonder if concussion gate may have something to do with it.
