When you have total control of something for a very long time, you do not want to give that control up. To anybody.

If what MIT Beaver is saying is true, then this is really about one thing, CONTROL. The Haslam family have enjoyed almost unfettered control over on the hill especially in athletics for a few decades. I think we would all agree that the "family" has not done a very good job in athletics.

That family has run our athletics programs (save a precious few) into ditch after ditch. If MITB is correct, then this is an epic struggle for power and control. I have witnessed first hand the degradation of the football program and the men's and women's basketball programs and I have had all I can stand. It is time for some new blood to call the shots. The "family" needs to get out of the way.

Help me Coasty. What is our thought process on this afternoons developments?

I am having trouble formulating my own opinion on the ramifications of todays events.

Seem confirmation that this is a showdown between Haslam (the old guard) and Ergen and his 85% coalition ... That battle was fought once in 2012 and Haslam won out...

Then Atlanta Vol posted that the AD had contacted a coach (Not Gruden) to see if he had interest in Tennessee
(would not name him)...

These two things together made me lower my percentage to 40% chance we land Gruden

Even tho this university has been downright mind boggling at times, I refuse to believe they are willing to invest $180m on stadium renovations just to box in Google McGoogly coach. They've got to have some kind of plan.

Are you joking? Did the Haslams send you and some others to post nice things about them today?

Well no one has given me any examples yet so until then I’ll still believe they do a great job with helping the University. Don’t know if they’ll ever get the browns turned around tho but they’re working their ass off, just a different ball game being a new owner of a bad nfl team.

"UT AD Currie is giving board committee an update on stadium renovations, says $340M cost is "reasonable & prudent" when consider replacement" ...

Of Butch Jones with John Gruden

Boom!!!

Can someone please let us know what Beav is tweeting? How the hell can Haslam win this hand?

Do you really think the haslams picked Butch Jones over gruden?

Hart. He was pissed the boosters were doing his job for him. Then Cheek, who didn’t like the idea of hiring Gruden, conducted an embarrassing coaching search. Since he obviously wasn’t going to have booster support for hiring Botch, he needed the academic side to fund it. Cheek turned over 18 million dollars and Botch got 6 year, 3 million dollar/per year deal.

Allegedly.
