Are you his best friend and career advisor?

No, but based on your posts I'm pretty sure I have a better read on politics.

Anyway, he's been a mayor and a governor. And not very inspiring or effective at either.

He turned down a Senate run. Which he might have had a chance at. What's left? US President? Lol.

While we all have beaten Vol syndrome, this time Ergen has something they didn't have last time....academic leverage with the funding. It's genius. He's got Currie's boss in his pocket. If this falls through, we lose Gruden, we lose Ergen's donations, and we lose academic funding. He's got the bases stacked and loaded. I'd hate to be Currie right now if this is true.

I'd say Ergen is the smartest man in the room

People that I know and trust tell me that Big Jim won't get out of the way. I know they are big boosters. I've been over there with them on multiple occasions. I don't however think that they are sabotaging the school or the football program. I honestly think that they think anything they do is in the best interest of the university. I'm just not sure their decisions are always wise ones.

I don't have intel that they are sabotaging this. I do think he's holding up the "official" firing of Butch. I'm not sure why. I don't think Butch's presence has any direct influence on the Gruden deal.

Exhibit A. The Cleveland Browns.

Is anything else needed?

I agree. I have a really hard time believing this narrative. I think people are reaching for a dramatic story that I don't believe exists. I go back to Albert Haynesworth's tweet. He thanked him for trying to make UT great again. He obviously heard something different than what some folks are stretching to believe.

His tweet was changed...
It originally said "please make UT great again."

Haslam was the only person that could have backed Hart and his hire of Butch.
People were talking about boosters this and boosters that. What if all of the boosters were not on the same page?
One booster's plane went here, the other's went there. And the athletics administration controls the media.

I'd say he has something in mind based on how his buddy corker is acting.

You might be incredibly surprised to learn what kind of read I have on politics.

No it didn't. You are mistaken sir. It said, "thank you Mr. Haslam for trying to make Tennessee great again." That was his post. His bio hasn't been changed either.

Are we sure the Haslems are against Gruden? It doesn’t make sense. Gruden has Golfed with them, he stayed in their house when he was visiting here and now is buying their house.

Doesn’t sound like someone being a roadblock to me.

When you have total control of something for a very long time, you do not want to give that control up. To anybody.

I feel like we have been saying SOON now for about two months. There is no reason to believe something is actually happening SOON.

I think people are going to be severely disappointed that this most likely isn't going to be wrapped up till the season is over. Prepare for a long November ladies and gentlemen.

I can’t find allvols post but if you read up on what Ergen has acquired in the wireless spectrum Forbes estimates his portfolio could be worth upward of 80B.

He's got a crazy amount of very prime spectrum that the wireless companies would love to have and no announced plans for using it. Keeps buying more too. Lots of speculation about what he's going to do. Yes, it's worth major $.
