It's peanuts. The season tickets have been paid. They just miss out on concession sales, and that's nothing compared to what they are about to pay out for buyouts and a new coach.

They don't miss out on any concessions. We have a contract with the concession company.

Flat rate pre negotiated, slight bump if agreed threshold is exceeded.

Local business is the loser, voice heard would be season ticket purchasing for next year.

Anyone not coming to remaining games this year hurts the University none this year.

Again, only way to speak with money would be next season ticket and apparel purchase along with stopping the alum donations.

I just can't see these people being this incompetent. Hiring someone like john gruden would bring more money from the football side, i believe, in the history of the program. He would generate so much revenue. There would be so many different fan bases intrigued by him returning to coach and interested to see him in college. It wouldn't matter if they are rivals or not people would be watching. Our sales in merchandise would increase ten fold. He would bring in so many different viewers. Let's not forget the attention it would bRing the program. He is espn golden child. They would put him on a pedastool and be rooting for him.

This way of thinking will be why change is never made. There will be seniors every year. I agree it’s not fair to them but life isn’t fair and sometimes drastic measures need to be taken to influence change.

Money talks. If UT is truly more concerned with academics than athletics that’s fine but see how far they get without fan support and without a strong AD.

Look at how UA’s applications for admissions have increased since Saban. Why is that significant? I’ll tell you. Increase applications leads to greater completion, which leads to higher academic standards for students. Athletics and Academics go hand in hand.

Also, what happens to other athletics at UT without strong revenue from football?

I agree that academics and athletics go hand and hand, but in this situation, it's not changing the final outcome. Currie understands the standards for UT football and losing to Vandy and UK are unacceptable. Showing up at this week's game will not suddenly change his mind about the standards for UT football. I think it's pretty clear at this point.

What’s your %, Coasty??

SOON

I am still NEGA-VOL ...:)... I believe there are still some obstacles to the deal getting "done", I do however believe that the Boosters have put together a offer that Gruden has in theory accepted.... what I do not believe is that the AD nor the Academic hurdles have yet been jumped nor have all the details of said contract(s).

I have always believed the biggest obstacle to a deal is Gruden himself.... Having said that I remain steady at

Haynesworth is a tool. He proves it time after time. Why does he think people don't take him seriously?

That's all I found too. I understood it to mean it hasn't happened yet.

I was thinking this is the meeting Bubba was referring to.

Someone posted that they were meeting today (seems awfully early in the Homecoming week to me considering you would think people are out of town... Who knows, not me, wasn't a bean. Maybe they video conference, or maybe they aren't even meeting!

I get why everyone wants Gruden, huge name, big splash, etc., etc. But the reality of hiring him is mind boggling to me. The rumor is he's been offered $10 mil a year, right? Okay, say he takes the job. Now we have a coach that's been out of coaching for almost a decade, and has had ZERO involvement in the college game for almost THREE DECADES. That means his entire coaching staff has to be extremely well versed at coaching, recruiting, AND the college rules and regulations. How much will it cost to fill out his staff with those coaches? Right now, CBJ has 11 postitions staffed. To bring the best of the best, which will be necessary with Gruden's lack of knowledge on the college game, we'd be looking at somewhere around another $10 mil per year. So now the university is on the hook for ~$20 mil per year, with ZERO guarantees of it being an upgrade.

Somebody tell me why this is better than say, Matt Campbell at ISU? He's knocked off 2 Top 5 opponents this year, which is 2 more than CBJ has done in 5 years.
We have to return to national recruiting at a high level. Matt Campbell's name is not going to get that done. Gruden's will as will a small handful of other guys. Matt Campbell is another Butch-like, five-year, wait and see project. We don't need to do that again.

These things take time to come together..As much as we would like for them to be completed right this minute..it just doesn’t work like that..I know it’s hard to be patient because I want it to be done too..That said, patience is the key..

My % is still the same..

This! Plus most tickets are too. They've got their money. If they make another bone head hire for next year, I can see it.

Is it though? I mean those standards have always been in place, yet look at the last two hires.
