Yeah, well I had a friend that worked at Baskin Robbins... His job was to let folks taste ice cream...so, now that we go that out of the way, let's talk Gruden stuff.

Apparently there is a hard core ice cream thing going on at the pinnacle of Neyland brass...does your friend have any good insider info?

Doc everyone knows he is done at some point. People said "win or lose" and that simply is not correct. Not calling you out I was in the same a lot as you in 2012 you are one of the few in here I think is not FOS /!: are reporting info from people that should know. Unfortunately they probably know what they want not what WILl happen and when.

This

THIS is what I believe.... which points to either Gruden is out or still only considering it

Many of us were told it was a done deal in 2012, obviously it wasn't. If it were done now, Butch would be fired. There is absolutely no reason to keep him if the deal is 100%. If he isn't fired today, we are exactly where you said. Gruden is still considering or he is out. I hope it's the first and a small hurdle needs to be cleared. I was told right before the game Butch was out this week too. Im not going to believe 100% of what I'm told this time though.

Well one thing is FACT, if Tennessee screws up the administration will feel it from every corner of the universe this time. So if they do they better be ready for their eat the cheap ice cream bars in front a quarter to half filled big house and get ready to see donations dry up in ALL AREAS. Got ahead and do that to the best fan base in America. That will show em. I have to believe they are not the enemy. SOON!!!!! DO IT OR ELSE!!! GBO!!!!

Not that it's any of your damn business, but since it involves a potential coach at UT, I have interest in the "info" whether I want him as the coach or not. Am I to believe that none of the Gruden fans post their opinions in other potential coaches' forums?

I don’t venture outside of this place to crap in other threads. But that’s just me. Feel free to continue being an ass

And meanwhile we watch ESPN report that UF is deciding Mac’s fate......frustrates me they’ll probably act before UT does. And that guy won the East back to back

And this is why I'm starting to think that Jones will be back next year.

If it was that far into Grden being hired or Jones being fired, we would've seen it by now on ESPN or some other major network, but we haven't.

Plus after the leak of UF looking to fire Mac, their AD came out with a statement saying they weren't.

I just really think we're stuck with him for whatever stupid reason

Yes... It is exactly what happened the last time.... BUT we need to start being realistic... when someone comes in here with brash statement (that we do not know) declaring 100% done.... we need to hold them to it.

NO ONE BUT MIT has done that...We need to stop feeding off of his outlandish promises and start looking at facts. Here are the facts that I see:

1. We have been told Butch is done
2. We have been told Gruden is in play (or at least was)
3. We have been told money nor control is not a problem
4. We have been told Gruden is moving to Knoxville

these things I believe... BUT THAT IS ALL I believe.. the rest is simply HYPE and speculation

My source has always told me that Haslam is a huge obstacle to anything in the AD. When I've asked him if this or that can happen, it's always "If Haslem will get out of the way!" I'm starting to think Haslam is in the way again. I don't think Currie is calling the shots or having much of a say right now. I also think that's why Currie is our AD.

I believe that they actually prefer to have Butch continue to coach because it allows them to work this deal behind the scenes. If Butch is gone, it’s open season on everything they are doing. The National media starts watching instead of talking about Butch and if he will be fired. If you are trying to do things in secret then leaving Butch is your best play. At least until it’s done and you can announce. Just my thoughts and nothing more...

Butch is definitely done. I don’t think any of us really disagree on that. The sticking point everyone is trying to figure out is why Currie is waiting.

Previously, it was a buyout issue. But that has been resolved, decided, agreed to, and signed on. So it question is what happened or why Currie isn’t pulling the plug.

Still holding onto today or tomorrow the other shoe falls.

Someone postulated on another site that Currie is simply a power hungry King wannabe and isngiving the finger to the fanbase who he is furious at for thinking they can force him to do anything at all.

Sounds plausible.

Ive got the biggest case of Gru balls ever....

Here's what I don't get, hiw can Haslam have that much control?

Isn't the hiring and firing decisions approved by the BoT? And sense that seems it would need a majority tonpass then one man alone can't make or break a vote if everyone else is against him

Largest donor with an ego the size of the smokey mtns. Kiffin, Dooley, Jones, Hamilton,Hart, Currie, all his decisions. Atlanta Vol said a few days ago David Blackburn was a deal in place o be the next AD. If you remember Haslam took Davenport and rushed out at the last minute to interview Currie and twisted Davenport into offering him the job. Had Peyton to go out and try to smooth it over with everyone. All of this lays at his feet.

Tell us what you think is going on.

I don't claim to know, but based on what I'm told, Currie is hesitant to fire Butch, has been for a while. He knows he will eventually, but is not a fan of the "interim" angle. But there is increasing pressure, from fans, boosters and the Gruden side of things. I think Currie's plan has been to delay the firing as long as possible. I couldn't disagree more with the logic, but that's the way it seems to be.

The more the door closes on a potential bowl game, the easier the decision will become, but I won't speculate on when he lets Butch go.

I don't agree with this logic. But I've been saying all week, there's friction over the timing of all this. It's not what we want to hear, but it's the truth and we've seen it for a few weeks now.
