Official Jon Gruden Thread XXIV

Everyone is up in arms. Myself included. Still hoping this is all a dog and pony show—him Still here Sunday morning.

Gave you guys the info that I’m 100% happened the way I gave it to you. Butch’s buyout and terms were absolutely decided and signed off on. Didn’t (and won’t speculate) on anything else (potential coaches, “done deals”,...) Bc I don’t have info on that this go around.

I’ve been pretty calm Bc I’m confident in him reaching a buyout—100%, that did happen—but , if we go Sunday and Monday and CBJ is still here, it makes me think something is really wrong.

I said previously it seemed like they were waiting on something else before letting Butch walk away. Didn’t claim to know what that was. But, if Sunday and Monday come and he’s still here, there’s something wrong, IMO. And that’s the point I stop being calm and patient, personally. Don’t know how else to say it.

Still watching and waiting with the rest of you.

I sense another classic Haslam screwup in the works. Currie is his guy.

Well my Dish says The Butch Jones Show and I thought they had inside info.

They do share the same info, the problem is sometimes it can take up to 24 hours for a channel guide to update, with that said they all get the guide info from the same place

And before you ask me how I know, I work for a cable company, also just checked my guide which I get cable from my job, and it says Butch Jones show, most likey the Comcast file got messed up some how

The show airs at different times on different stations.

Good point. Perhaps it’s all part of Beaver’s misinformation plan.

I have a simple rule. Anytime someone claims something as 100% truth or 100% done deal, he's a troll.

If he turns out to be right, you eat crow and apologize. But claiming anything is a done deal before its made public is nothing more than a cry for attention.

Butch is definitely done. I don’t think any of us really disagree on that. The sticking point everyone is trying to figure out is why Currie is waiting.

Previously, it was a buyout issue. But that has been resolved, decided, agreed to, and signed on. So it question is what happened or why Currie isn’t pulling the plug.

Still holding onto today or tomorrow the other shoe falls.

Trying to get another coach in line first.
This hasn't happened yet. Not as close as we hope

My opinion

I sense another classic Haslam screwup in the works. Currie is his guy.

Here's what I don't get, hiw can Haslam have that much control?

Isn't the hiring and firing decisions approved by the BoT? And sense that seems it would need a majority tonpass then one man alone can't make or break a vote if everyone else is against him

A little more than speculating. A lot more...

Doc everyone knows he is done at some point. People said "win or lose" and that simply is not correct. Not calling you out I was in the same a lot as you in 2012 you are one of the few in here I think is not FOS /!: are reporting info from people that should know. Unfortunately they probably know what they want not what WILl happen and when.

All you have to do is think about it folks.Gruden is an all chips on the table, do or die, everything in one basket bet, that if failed would kill the UT football program for decades if not for ever. If Gruden didn't win, a coach that hasn't coached anything in ten years and hates the recruiting game; if he didn't win, there would be nothing left. You would be tied in chains in the basement with no way out. You would have to give him EVERYTHING. Does that sound like Currie to you?

Vivid imagery aside, what's your reasoning here?

If you think he wouldn't pull in top 5 recruiting classes with ease, you are kidding yourself.

And if we have good players but he isn't winning with them, well, we are back where we are now.

So what are you talking about? I think the fan base would be pretty bummed the consensus top choice didn't work out, but logically, I don't see how that's a doomsday scenario.

We ask again. Why are you in the Gruden thread?

Not that it's any of your damn business, but since it involves a potential coach at UT, I have interest in the "info" whether I want him as the coach or not. Am I to believe that none of the Gruden fans post their opinions in other potential coaches' forums?

When I was in school, I had a friend whose job was to drive the physical tape of the Johnny Majors Show to Memphis on Saturday nights to air on Sunday mornings (pre-internet kids}

Yeah, well I had a friend that worked at Baskin Robbins... His job was to let folks taste ice cream...so, now that we got that out of the way, let's talk Gruden stuff.

Watching Currie try to figure whether and when to fire Butch Jones is every bit as maddening as watching our team trying to score from the 1 yard line.

And meanwhile we watch ESPN report that UF is deciding Mac’s fate......frustrates me they’ll probably act before UT does. And that guy won the East back to back

Not disagreeing with you. I’m in the same boat as you. Waiting and watching today and tomorrow. I’m trying to figure out what the hold up is now though. We still know his buyout was decided already...

Yeah I've noticed on this forum, or the gruden threads atleast, people use the term trolling to define truth also. I've actually seen people say they believe the person has factual info and is giving this factual info to us, but trolling....

I don't mean to point anyone out, but the posters who do this I don't think understand what the trolling term is meant for.

Online definition of "troll"

make a deliberately offensive or provocative online post with the aim of upsetting someone or eliciting an angry response from them.

Does not have to be false information.

Yes... It is exactly what happened the last time.... BUT we need to start being realistic... when someone comes in here with brash statement (that we do not know) declaring 100% done.... we need to hold them to it.

NO ONE BUT MIT has done that...We need to stop feeding off of his outlandish promises and start looking at facts. Here are the facts that I see:

1. We have been told Butch is done
2. We have been told Gruden is in play (or at least was)
3. We have been told money nor control is not a problem
4. We have been told Gruden is moving to Knoxville

these things I believe... BUT THAT IS ALL I believe.. the rest is simply HYPE and speculation

I fully believe in 1 and 4. I expected him to be fired this week but am hearing it is not gonna happen. That makes me very suspicious of 2 and 3.
