Manny Diaz just dropped "resilient" in an interview on ESPN. I think we've found our next coach.

Not here of course but I would think he gets a shot soon. He might be a good one. He has been successful everywhere except as TX DC but almost like TN something odd been there when it comes to defense

His contract specifically mentions head coach and assistant coach (either college of professional) as well as athletics administrator at a college or university. Its in section 3.14 of his contract.

That's interesting. Tougher than I realized. I still think he can "actively seek" and be out of football for a couple of years.

I didn't read it, but who cares about a guy who is into child exploitation. He deserves to be punched.

If your stomach can take it, here is the link. A later article said he made a plea deal and only got two months in jail. He should have been punched a lot more. I hope he met someone in jail who showed him that it's not cool to attempt to solicit sex from a 14 year old girl.

Unless he really needs to decompress, he seems like the type to want to take a quick path the reproving himself.

When he leaves the mitigation clause in his contract requires that he seek work and any pay he receives from that job is deducted from the payout he''s due from UT.

So, in theory, if he somehow found a job that paid him the same salary he's making now then UT would owe him nothing.

Does the clause mean he has to seek work? If they removed it, could he double dip? Could he find a new job and still collect his full buyout if they removed that clause?

That's a fine tactic when you're negotiating for someone a school desperately wants to keep. Not so much when it's for someone they want gone and the season is already ruined.

It almost sounds like they're saying "you have to keep Butch" or remove that clause. If that's the case, F them.

Interesting that Swain said Gruden will be spending time in Knoxville soon, said that doesn’t mean he will be coaching.

James Cook commited to Georgia 2night. I just don't get it, if they hang on to White, that makes three 5 star RBs to Georgia in the last 2 years, counting Swift.

Theyve built an elite team and the recruits are buying in. Reminds me of Bamas 5 star depth. Not good for us.

With decent coaching we would be in the same position after the 2015 or 2016 season

They see Georgia winning. They get there find out it's like bama (a pipe dream) and learn there are 5 stars all around them and won't get to show off their talents. Only I don't think Georgia will win consistently like bama

Guys - I really didn't want this to turn into a cop/pot/moral debate.

I just want my football team to have their best player. Sorry I said anything.

I don't think it's even a debate. Smoking pot is illegal. Until it becomes legal anyone who smokes it runs the risk of being caught and punished, although the punishment is basically a slap on the wrist. If you break the law don't try to put the blame on someone else.

Now if you want to debate if pot SHOULD be legal, that's actually debatable.

Infractions should be handled the same way no matter when they occur so players understand the consequences of their actions. It's bush league to suspend players an entire game for a misdemeanor just because it made the news, when other players haven't missed PT. Suspend or don't suspend-- just be consistent about it. UT is becoming the poster school for how not to run a program.
In the offseason coaches have time to punish the players in other ways before the season starts. During the season about the only course of action is a suspension. You don't have time to sufficiently punish by other means.

Unless I am, mistaken, we would have hired Smart back in 2012, right?

I think Georgia is having the season we should've last year. A talented team who's best players came back for another year, there's just stayed healthy.

I'm curious to see them next year, I thought they were poorly coached last year and I'm still not convinced their coaching staff can get it done consistently, but I could be wrong. I hope I'm not and they suck after all their veterans leave this year.

I’m starting to believe our next coach will be either Mullen, Frost, or Morris. All would do well here imo...just say no to Bobo the bozo

Been doing it for 5 years. Pretty sure that's how they're being coached.

Short routes for five years, yeah. That’s always been part of this offense on third and “manageable”. Of course we all know nothing is manageable for this year’s offense on third down. Having said that we have not had the same issues on third down for five years. If the coaches are telling the receivers to run a route that is 1 yard short of the first down marker - or at least not telling them to be aware of the down and distance – then yes they should have been gone a long time ago. I do not think that is the case. There are many reasons for this coaching staff to be gone, but this is not one of them.
