I missed all that, what exactly did BB say?

Just along the lines he was writing a letter to the AD and it would matter to them because he did give a significant amount where they would notice it and he was going to be at the game and there would be a meeting. Nothing like the Grudmors but more just perhaps telling about himself than he would like for folks to know. Nothing earth shattering but perhaps he liked people not knowing or thinking that he was influential. I would hope most of us would be better than that but look how people have handled Atlanta Vol. He made a twitter so he could communicate with a couple of people on here and got bombarded with follow request. These guys who really have some influence really don't want people to know so much about them. I do not know anything but it crossed my mine when it happened with this wife posting that he may just wanted to throw some folks off the trail. Who knows but he was a really good guy and fun to have posting on here. Perhaps he is waiting till things are settled so he doesn't get bombarded with questions when he is on.

I can't see him coming back under almost any imaginable scenario, even winning out. He's over it, the boosters/big $ guys are over it, the team is over it and the fans are over it.

Even beating a bunch of average to below-average teams isn't going to change the pulse of this board, is it?

Not mine because what gets me sour on a coach is not being competitive in games. Losing 41-0, 49-10, and 45-7 type scores against SEC teams kills it for me more than W and L records. Records are very important but when you have no shot to beat the better teams and they are blowouts then you need to go. These are his players and this has been humiliating losses not just losses.

Difference is that this was on a Tuesday during the season and it made the news.

Failing a piss test in June that nobody knows about isn't gonna get you suspended. Ending up in the news on a Wednesday before a game will get you every time. Especially when the season is lost already.

Not surprised they are suspended. Knew it was coming.

Jennings was not a piss test.

Tough to prove DUI with weed, no breathalyzer and blood test isnt going to give you a level. Cop could have sure but he didn't want to do the paperwork, just wanted to write a ticket.

If you think that weed can't impair your driving, then you've not smoked weed.

And any LEO worth his salt should be able to perform field sobriety tests to determine whether you're too messed up to drive.

It depends on what authority he has been given by supervisors. If they want all marijuana cases charged, then he doesn't have a choice. If patrol officers have been given latitude, then it was his call. These are usually decisions made by people higher up in the police department.

I seriously doubt there is an overriding referendum on misdemeanor pot possession charges.

I have 1000 times and it makes me drive slower and more paranoid but yeah you know more than me so...

VFGL, I agree with what you're saying. One of my biggest pet peeves is that in today's world we always try to find someone else to blame. It sickens me at times. JK and WI gotta be smarter than to be riding around with a pipe, pot and a busted headlight. Ultimately, it falls on them.

That said, I view Tennessee football through a different lens. I'm selfish like that. Just want to win. Sick of losing. If I'm the cop I toss the pot and tell them to have a nice night. It's not as if they were robbing people. But I probably wouldn't have found pot in the first place cause I wouldn't be searching their car after pulling them over for a busted taillight. Who knows? Maybe there is more to the story and the cops actually were cutting them a break.

I'm with you, but you walk a slippery slope with that decision. If it gets ignored, you encourage it. It tells those immature kids that it's OK while it's quite illegal.

I want to win just as bad. That's why I think you suspend them for the half, not the whole game. Outside of the game, you make them do community service, run extra suicides, etc.

no but why does he not have to miss a game.............they would've not missed one either for this and it would've been handled internally but Currie stepped in...........

Anyone arrested/cited for pot (with it making the news) during the season is gonna sit. Maybe not if we were having a great season but at 3-4 nobody is gonna bend over backwards to make exceptions.

Screw ups during the offseason are handled internally and are much more easily swept under the rug.

Just like most jobs, officers have a supervisor in which to report. You and I don't know what kind of emphasis they are putting on it. Here in Memphis, I have heard that some officers have been given some discretion with small amounts. But that may not be the same in Knoxville. You are just using your stance on the issue to speculate about it.

So first off let me say I never dream or if I do I don't remember them. So, last night I had a dream that I was at a pizza place and complaining that my daughter and I had been waiting for over 2 hours for our pizza. I was complaining very loud. So, John Gruden walks up and asks if he can help. My daughter and I freak out and start telling him we are huge Vols fans and hoping he becomes the new Vols coach (which I really don't). Anyway, he was really cool and took pictures with us and shared a his pizza with us.

Take that as you will. Cool story bro. Dilly, Dilly

Guys - I really didn't want this to turn into a cop/pot/moral debate.

I just want my football team to have their best player. Sorry I said anything.

Infractions should be handled the same way no matter when they occur so players understand the consequences of their actions. It's bush league to suspend players an entire game for a misdemeanor just because it made the news, when other players haven't missed PT. Suspend or don't suspend-- just be consistent about it. UT is becoming the poster school for how not to run a program.
