Looked no different than a lot of plays seen on a Sunday.

It's tackle football and he didn't go for the guy's head or his knees. BFD.

Let's see if he gets fined and again its very different than an OL making a block at the whistle. It's the difference between a football play and a cheap shot.

I'll be that guy. If we hired Frost I'd be happy to be wrong, but after reading and watching that I really just don't see it working in the SEC on a consistent basis. SEC DLines would obliterate the small OLinemen that would be required for all of those pulls and block schemes (or to prevent that, the large OL would be too slow to execute the schemes). SEC caliber linebackers are too fast to allow these plays to get to the corner. SEC DBs are too strong and well coached to allow pass catchers to get that kind of separation.

Honestly I like the offense -- a lot. It's old school football being run in the new era. I'd love to have played in that sort of offense. But I don't think it is well suited for the caliber of athletes SEC defenses get.

I think Frost would kill it somewhere in the PAC12 or even at Nebraska where he'd be facing a bunch of slow defenses.

As far as the offense the way it's run now, maybe you're right. But one thing I really like about Frost is his willingness to adapt his system to fit his talent; he knows what it takes to win.

In the article he talks about his love for the old school, military academy-type triple option, and while he runs something vaguely similar, he's taken ideas from other coaches he's learned from and applied them to his offense.

What I'm getting at is this: he seems to be a great football mind that would have no trouble constructing an offense built to work at this level, and willing to adapt and change to make it work. Say goodbye to the days of watching a stubborn coach run the same four plays repeatedly, believing the system could never be the problem.

Bruin, shut up.

Give it up. Bruin is an anti-social windbag who revels in taking an antagonistic position. It's his shtick. If nobody responds to his nonsense, there's no fuel for the fire. Once people start responding, he's energized.

For a long time, I thought he was a user created by Freak to generate traffic. At this point, though, I think even Freak is tired of listening to him.

I've been wondering something regarding some of the big boosters.... why do they give so much money to the university? What's in it for them?

I'd love to think they just love the Vols - but there has to be something in it for them for it to be such a popular thing.

Do they receive a return on investment in any way other than wins? Are there major tax benefits for donating?

Surely I'm missing something.

That's what rich people do. Same reason they give to museums and foundations and charities. Rich people like to support things they care about.

Tax write offs. Technically schools are nonprofits. You also don't know what specific things they are giving money to. A highly doubt its just a check to athletics, they are more than likely giving money to a scholarship fund or something.

The whole won’t work in the SEC type argument is so overblown, IMO.

You are right. Myself, John Gruden, and the NFL official on the broadcast were wrong last night. We all owe DB an apology.

It was more in general about you, not specifically about last night. As many penalties as were handed out last night, if that crew thought that play needed to flagged, it would’ve been.

Also there’s no denying that you embellished your original post about the play. It was in no way shape or form close to being as bad as the Tuttle play.
