If the deal was so big that any coach in the country would take it, then why go from Gruden down to Frost as second option? Seems like I'd make someone else say no first.
Be like shopping for a Ferrari, they didn't have the one you wanted, so you go buy a Prius.
With Butch saying the things he did at the presser today and essentially throwing our players under the bus, how long until they give up on him too? I'm afraid it's going to be a Dooley situation and we may be lucky to win 1-2 of our final games at most. I see no reason to keep Butch Jones any longer. I hope they have something worked out and it'll all make sense when it comes out to the public. Please lord baby Jesus.
After sitting in Neyland for UMass & then S Carolina, I said we might not win another game. While schedule weakens from here on out & defense playing better, still think that is most likely scenario given that the offense can't find the end zone. I wonder if negotiated buyout had something to do with Butch thinking he could get team to a bowl & wanting the bonus $? Maybe once that option is off the table we can finally put an end to his scene.Assuming a win against Southern Miss (not safe assumption), which SEC team remaining on the schedule do you think he will win to get to a fifth?
Before you say Kentucky, note that we are underdogs and it's on the road.
Before you say Missouri, check out the points they are scoring. Do you think we can outscore them?
Before you say LSU, note that they have definitely righted the ship to some degree. They're on the upswing right now.
Before you say Vandy, remember that they play us like its the freaking Superbowl.
I wouldn't bet on winning any of them. Maybe, but I wouldn't bet on it.
Take it for what its worth but I talked to 2 very reliable sources today and also received a screenshot from a guy with heavy pockets. Gruden was the #1 target, but turned down the 1st offer and the BOT/Currie counter offered with a BIG deal that would be taken by most any coach around the country. Gruden came back and said NO again, then explained he has a lot of friends in Knoxville a s associated with UT, and he's rather keep his friends than take the job and ruin friendships. The next target is supposedly going to be Frost.

Just posted from a poster on VQ.. Just wanted to share
"Lots of misinformation flying around the last few days. Reminds me a lot of the Harbaugh hiring at UM. It's still in JG's court and we have done enough to make this happen. It's now a matter of personal preference. First hand knowledge via somebody who will be on his staff if this happens. Flame away ... just sharing for those who care to hear it"
Has anyone heard today from BORO, DTO, ROCKYTOPSC or OLDVOL
I know they are a little gun shy and can understand why, just wondering if they have heard anything?
I have heard nothing much that is of any interest. Late last week I was told we think it will be after the bama game. That was by someone who has the position to hear such things. Well that did not happen obviously so we are left to wait. I do believe based upon what I have been told it is when not if. I know a lot of peoples emotions are running high and are desperate to see or hear something from John. I also can fall into that need for immediate gratification especially after loosing to bama. The third Saturday in October is a very special time for me and for the first time in my life I didnt even care about the game. At this point I believe he has a plan and is doing what he needs to properly carry it out. As I have said this time around I just dont have line of sight on who the coach will be. I hope John doesnt prove me wrong as I have to believe in him because I have no belief in Butch.
My opinion for what it's worth, if Jones is not let go after a Kentucky loss, he'll coach the entire season. I think there is a chance Currie doesn't want the first game coached by an interim, to be on the road. If an interim is brought in the week of the S. Miss game, then more folks would be in the seats. If that doesn't happen, Jones will be with us the entire season.
