Take it for what its worth but I talked to 2 very reliable sources today and also received a screenshot from a guy with heavy pockets. Gruden was the #1 target, but turned down the 1st offer and the BOT/Currie counter offered with a BIG deal that would be taken by most any coach around the country. Gruden came back and said NO again, then explained he has a lot of friends in Knoxville a s associated with UT, and he's rather keep his friends than take the job and ruin friendships. The next target is supposedly going to be Frost.

I really don’t think he is trolling the is to much unfolded on the Beavs and MIT. I’ll be in line to eat it if I’m wrong

I'm choosing to put away my skeptical side and believe him. I won't be disappointed if it doesn't happen, but this ride has been very fun.

Bad thing is 2 more wins gives him five. Surely you beat the Southern Miss Golden Eagles which means you need one other win and you're in some type of bowl more than likely even if its the Sav-A-Lot bowl or something. If the poster was right back many Gruden threads ago that said he gets more money if he goes to bowl then that means we may very well be waiting this thing out until the end of the season. I sure hope that isn't the case.

Assuming a win against Southern Miss (not safe assumption), which SEC team remaining on the schedule do you think he will win to get to a fifth?

Before you say Kentucky, note that we are underdogs and it's on the road.
Before you say Missouri, check out the points they are scoring. Do you think we can outscore them?
Before you say LSU, note that they have definitely righted the ship to some degree. They're on the upswing right now.
Before you say Vandy, remember that they play us like its the freaking Superbowl.

I wouldn't bet on winning any of them. Maybe, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Good attitude. I agree... It's just fun and entertainment. Others hash a firing based upon when we lose or if we win he will still be doing this or that. All fine and well. Roll with it and see where it takes us.

i don't even think you can assume Southern miss is a win. Very close loss to Kentucky, and they've shut out 2 opponents. Solid team and we were 1 play away from losing to Umass.

Vandy looks like it will be a pickem game or close to it. We will be an underdog in every other game, including Southern Miss. Unless we start playing much better

I'm afraid its gonna get worse before it gets better. I hate it for our Vols I know they put a lot of work into this season.

It's fun watching the slow realization by some that they have been trolled when someof the old hats around here were telling you from the outset it was BS. The again it's hysterical some are still pushing it with the "Soon" and "Grudenite" BS. LOL There's beautiful mermaids right in the middle of the Tennessee River ya'll, go jump in the waters fine!!!

I can't speak for anybody else, but I know for me that I take everything on here with a grain of salt. This thread is good therapy for me to get through this disaster of a season. Nothing more, nothing less.

If that's true, he's using that as an excuse. He might have said that, but he probably just doesn't want to coach or he's hanging on for an NFL job.

Agree.

I wouldn't touch any of them.

If the deal was so big that any coach in the country would take it, then why go from Gruden down to Frost as second option? Seems like I'd make someone else say no first.

Be like shopping for a Ferrari, they didn't have the one you wanted, so you go buy a Prius.

So board of trustees scraped together enough money to to offer Gruden "a BIG deal that would be taken by most any coach around the country." And, when he said no, they jumped straight to Frost? Hum?

If it was "a BIG deal that would be taken by most any coach around the country" do you not think it might have occurred to them to offer it to some other bigger name?

So we go from making an offer that would land "most any coach around the country" to . . . Frost???? Makes no sense.

This story was floated around days ago. I've no idea why taking the UT job would ruin friendships. If my buddy got hired by UT tomorrow he'd still be my buddy.

Yea I don't agree with the statement that gruden turned it down because he has friends associated with UT and doesn't wanna ruin those relationships. That's saying he scared of taking on the competition and that is not what gruden is about

With Butch saying the things he did at the presser today and essentially throwing our players under the bus, how long until they give up on him too? I'm afraid it's going to be a Dooley situation and we may be lucky to win 1-2 of our final games at most. I see no reason to keep Butch Jones any longer. I hope they have something worked out and it'll all make sense when it comes out to the public. Please lord baby Jesus.

An offer that would be taken by "most any coach around the country"....and our next offer is to a coach who has 1.5 seasons worth of experience???

If you are throwing around offers that most any coach would accept...why not go big? Makes no sense.
