As much as I hate to say it..... I do not see any way you can fire a coach after a win.... If he beats Kentucky, we may have Butch till LSU... I think that is CRAZY, but I honestly think that is the case :cray:

You probably are right, but I think Ky actually is a better win chance for us than SoMiss. I don't see us beating anybody with Butch at the helm, though.

Just a thought. With KY being an away game, would that play into a decision? If someone is released before the next home game, I would think there would be a better chance of a larger/happier crowd. Just thinking out loud.

A SEC win or loss will mean more than a win/loss outside the conference, buy don't think the home/away will weigh out more or less

Part of my thoughts but certainly not calling anything one way or another. But it does help with timeline of after road game, before homecoming. Plus, if you did have someone on the hook, best way to downplay that is to keep your coach as long as you can without disrupting actual revenue, etc

I'm just trying to step back and look at it from a 'business' POV. If the money brought in on a home game is important, what happens in KY has no bearing. Would people be more likely to see a BJ coached team or an interim coached team?

So, you're just stirring the ****.

Got it...

I don't know why you're coming at me dude I never mentioned you once. I made a comment about a group of people and you elected yourself the spokesman of the group. If you're this upset about what I said maybe you should look back over what you've posted.

So we have a spokesman now? Cool.

I still don't see why ESPN would want to get rid of Gruden

"Get rid of" is probably not exactly the right phrase. His contract expires at the end of the season. If he was willing to re-up for half the money, I am sure they would love to keep him.

At the time, ESPN had the money to pay him in line with what he could make as a coach. This made returning to coaching less attractive. Now that his contract is up, the financial outlook for ESPN is far less bright. They are losing viewers at alarming rates and their share of the revenue from the "bundlers" is going down as partners like cable, DISH and DirecTV are forced to discount services. TV money is not what it once was.

So, he's now faced with the fact that he can likely earn significantly more as as coach.

If Butch is let go after the Kentucky game, as I have been told by my source (and have posted it several times) this timing fits perfectly with the Nov 3 date for the Grude's son last game.

By the way my source did not say it would happen but he THINKS that is when it will happen and has been saying this for several weeks

And if he wins the Kentucky game by some miracle?

Interim because it gives hope to the future. But the amount of money of a buyout vs home game vs whatever else, is neglible if you are playing the long game, which is what I’m hoping UT is playing.

What I’m getting at is UT will fire Butch based on a variety of factors, of which I think whether he wins or loses at uK is minor, although obviously would be the easiest time to fire him. But I think that’s just icing on the cake if that is on fact the target date.

Bad thing is 2 more wins gives him five. Surely you beat the Southern Miss Golden Eagles which means you need one other win and you're in some type of bowl more than likely even if its the Sav-A-Lot bowl or something. If the poster was right back many Gruden threads ago that said he gets more money if he goes to bowl then that means we may very well be waiting this thing out until the end of the season. I sure hope that isn't the case.

Makes a lot of sense, thanks.

It's fun watching the slow realization by some that they have been trolled when someof the old hats around here were telling you from the outset it was BS. The again it's hysterical some are still pushing it with the "Soon" and "Grudenite" BS. LOL There's beautiful mermaids right in the middle of the Tennessee River ya'll, go jump in the waters fine!!!

The notion that firing Butch immediately is the clear and obvious right decision is a bit obtuse. It's at least possible that keeping him for now is in the best interest of the program. It could be a simple financial matter, it could be at the request of JG, it could be part of a negotiated departure with Butch, or it could some other reason.

Until it all plays out, and we know the final outcome, I am content to give the AD the benefit of the doubt.

This! I can definitely see JG not wanting it announced until the timing is right for him. Doesn't matter much who coaches in the interim if the end result is JG..jmo
