Interesting tibdbit from a sports illustrated article from Feb. 2015.....

"In December, Gruden signed a contract extension with ESPN to remain on MNF through 2021. He joined ESPN in May 2009, five months after the Buccaneers fired him as head coach.

Gruden has frequently been linked to various head coaching jobs, but his contract extension will keep him "out of coaching through the remainder of [ESPN's] current NFL rights agreement," the network said upon announcing the deal."

Makes me wonder what "outs" he has in his contract? Full article link below:

And if he wins the Kentucky game by some miracle?

It depends on the circumstances. If you believe that Butch wants to stay and is coaching for his job, you are probably right that it would be hard to fire him after a win.

But, if you believe that he wants to be gone as much as we want him gone, then there may already be arrangements in place. It's a least possible that CBJ doesn't want to coach in Neyland again. Getting booed by your own home crowd is not the most palatable thing to swallow.

I thought I read he had signed a new contract last year that goes through 2021.

Contracts can be broken at any time or re-negotiated. It would be very interesting to see what the wording in his contract is however.

College coaches break them all the time. There usually is a price tag associated with breaking a contract though.

I'm sure Tennessee could also buyout that contract like any other coach. 6.5 a year or whatever he's making from ESPN is steep though.

Has anyone heard today from BORO, DTO, ROCKYTOPSC or OLDVOL

I know they are a little gun shy and can understand why, just wondering if they have heard anything?

Bad thing is 2 more wins gives him five. Surely you beat the Southern Miss Golden Eagles which means you need one other win and you're in some type of bowl more than likely even if its the Sav-A-Lot bowl or something. If the poster was right back many Gruden threads ago that said he gets more money if he goes to bowl then that means we may very well be waiting this thing out until the end of the season. I sure hope that isn't the case.

if so, then he wouldn't resign/negotiate buyout til we're bowl ineligible

yuck

It's fun watching the slow realization by some that they have been trolled when someof the old hats around here were telling you from the outset it was BS. The again it's hysterical some are still pushing it with the "Soon" and "Grudenite" BS. LOL There's beautiful mermaids right in the middle of the Tennessee River ya'll, go jump in the waters fine!!!

Take it easy dude.

As has been stated many times. A win over Kentucky in football is never, ever, ever never, ever, never a reason to keep a head coach. If we won the game 70-0 and Butch was fired not an eye should be batted.

In the last decade we've went from being ridiculed in national media for firing a coach to now being ridiculed nationally for not firing a coach.

The thing about Beaver's info is he said, the betting line will move, betting lines always move.

He said there will be misinformation, which covers him when alternate info comes out.

I believe Beaver went to MIT, because Beaver seems like a smart dude but, he's set up a perfect troll job and there's no way for us to catch him until the end of this thing.

If Beaver is a troll I really hope you he makes one last post just to show how he got us because, I'd like to give him his kudos. That being said, if he's right it will be the biggest moment in the history of this board.

People keep counting Southern Miss as a win...

We will be an underdog in that game. That's not my opinion.

I was answering a question about what happens if he wins at Kentucky..... But I agree with you ... I think a loss at Kentucky will finish his coaching career at UT

Gotcha.

I'm going to back off of commenting for awhile. I've been on this train since 5:45 a.m. My bad.

= )

i believe he has been told he can save his job with a certain amount of wins.... At first i did not buy this.... But that seems evident by his posture that he is not worried about loosing his job... I think he believes he can win... All coaches do, but that would take a miracle

if he wins at kentucky i think he will coach next home game.... I doubt he wins, but could happen...

I think he loses at kentucky he will not coach next home game

again just my ideas from what i here?
😀

Take it for what its worth but I talked to 2 very reliable sources today and also received a screenshot from a guy with heavy pockets. Gruden was the #1 target, but turned down the 1st offer and the BOT/Currie counter offered with a BIG deal that would be taken by most any coach around the country. Gruden came back and said NO again, then explained he has a lot of friends in Knoxville a s associated with UT, and he's rather keep his friends than take the job and ruin friendships. The next target is supposedly going to be Frost.
