Has to be better than the known commode doody.
Been waiting to drop that one...saving it like Butch and the good plays.
Of course that is correct. But long term could that offense reliably work against SEC defenses? I can't think of when it's really been tested except the 2011 BCS title game when Auburn held Oregon to like 23 points.
SEC defenses are faster and bigger than anything Oregon used to face, and are of course bigger than anything UCF faces. I guess the counterargument is that he'd have faster and bigger players running the offense if he were at UT, but I just can't picture that offense consistently working against Saban, Kirby, Muschamp, Florida, LSU, etc. The defenses in the SEC are just too good for that scheme.
Yes to paragraph 1. He doesn't have to say "regardless." He can just say something along the lines of what I quoted in my OP. Just has to get the point across that CBJ will be evaluated at season end. That doesn't put an end to the speculation of who replaces him, but it does at least put an end to the speculation of "will today be the day" which has occurred basically every day since UGA. He can still change his mind and fire him mid-season if he chooses. All the statement does is quiet some of the noise and take a little bit of the daily dark clouds away so that the focus can be on the games and winning/losing.
Which leads into my point on Paragraph 2. Yes, hiring the right replacement is goal #1, but salvaging the best season possible in 2017 is also a huge goal. The best way an AD can impact that is to try and clear as much air as possible so that there isn't as much toxicity around the team and players.
Question is, is it all wishful thinking? One issue is RT went to Vandy. Would wonder if it was to troll us or if he bleeds orange regardless.
Morris is 11-19
A poster in the FF has an interesting take on this- that the holdup is another landing spot for Butch and that deal isn't completed yet, hence the reason Butch is still here- even though everyone including Butch wants to be somewhere else.

Need to get this off my mind once and for all because it matters for who they choose as the next "legacy" coach at the football program I love.
If they hire a coach that wants to be a coaching conference motivational speaker again, I'm done listening to any interviews or pressers. I cringe every time I hear his words like the "best staff in America" and "the system is infallible" that started it all off to the resiliency, complimentary football, champions of anything but football, etc. We don't need a cliche machine that talks down to the fanbase and feels like he needs to educate the uneducated. I am no fan of the media, but he deserves every flaming he receives with his BS. There are dozens of posters on here and personal coaching friends that know as much or more of what the real world is with this football team than he does. He needs to man up and accept a reasonable buy-out, call Two Men and a Truck, load up the family, and head back to Meeeshegan.
I am appreciative of his real desire to embrace Vol tradition, energy and enthusiasm spent toward building a competitive roster, and APR improvement. However, he missed out on the greatest opportunity he will ever have to be at the top as a coach because he simply cannot get out of his own way and personally grow as a leader and at the game of football. It's just not in his DNA. If he gets back in he needs to drop back a couple of steps.
