I'm not going to play "these guys SHOULD or SHOULDN'T be on the list." I'm rolling with who LWS says is realistic.

My order:

Frost
Brohm
Morris
Campbell
Doeren
Durkin

I don't know that Mike Houston was a legit name when it was thrown out but I'm interested in him as well.

I know this sounds crazy, but I wonder if Thunder knows what he is talking about? He was saying to a few people last time that Gruden was a lock, and we know what happened there.

You forgot Harbaugh :)

Also,
If we’re rolling and winning the SEC and in playoff conversations- no one would care about butchisms. Talk is fine as long as you back it up.

I would think it would be hard for him to be back after another loss, but I'm not ruling out right now that he coaches the rest of the season. There's real mystery on where Currie and the powers that be are right now.

Jones and Currie visited yesterday.

Anybody that thought Jones was going to actually get it done here wasn’t paying attention to his time as a BearCat. I posted this back in Dec 2012 shortly after he was announced.

“After watching the Jones press conference, my deja vu feeling of nausea at the coach speak sent me out surfing multiple Bearcat boards and I found common themes concerning the new head coach.

Micro manager
Weak x's and o's guy
Paranoid
Bad late game management
No 2nd half adjustment
On field loyalty to less talented players
Big ego
Corny Butchisms
Unwillingness to adjust his way to current roster skill set
Fans more upset over loss of assistant coaches than head coach

The bammer and gator have gifted the Vols with Dooley 2.0 for a long term stretch. The only good things I could find were he works really, really hard and appears to be a recruiting upgrade over Doolz.

I avoided the obviously butthurt fans in reading statements concerning Jones, but most Bearcat fans think he is way out of his league in trying to coach in the SEC.

Ugh!!!!! Do I think Jones can win the SEC and a NC? No, but I hope I'm wrong.”

Hopefully the new AD gets it right this time.....
I absolutely remember this post, and we had a few cincy fans in here saying the same.

Sobering...the same as Cincinnati...

A poster in the FF has an interesting take on this- that the holdup is another landing spot for Butch and that deal isn't completed yet, hence the reason Butch is still here- even though everyone including Butch wants to be somewhere else.

Looking like JAllen was wrong. He was pretty admanant that Jones would be gone after the Bama game. Unless it happens sometime later today, I'm marking him off the list of people who might know what's going on. LWS, JAV and Atlanta Vol are about the only ones who have close to a clue IMO.

NC State has ND and Clemson next two games. Depending on how he does in those his name could start popping up more.

I actually like Doreen, grew up in Raleigh and my friends back home love him. He just hasn’t done enough to get an SEC job yet, IMO. We will see after these two games though.

I think there's a chance that Currie wants to give Butch a shot to redeem himself a little bit down the stretch with these easier games for his next job search.

He's not an awful coach. He worked so hard here to make us a winner. But he's not an SEC level coach. That's obvious to everyone. He doesnt belong at Tennessee.

If he can coach through the season and get us to finish strong maybe he sets himself up for a lower tier job in the AAC or something. I actually think winning down the stretch is a possibility, even though it seems dire right now. We have a defense that is playing really hard and fast with lots of young playmakers. The offense should have a much easier go of things the rest of the way. Surely Guarantano can settle in a little more and we can ride John Kelly to 3 more wins. They won't be easy, but it's not like we're gonna get destroyed by UK. Give me a break.

I think he should be gone, but I also get that this is a complicated and multifaceted issue. The turn around won't start this season either way most likely. This place needs a new leader. The turnaround begins when that new leader gets here and we won't reap the benefits of that until next season either way.

I would rather see an interim get a shot. But it probably doesn't make much of a difference to be honest.

I'm okay with Currie handling this situation with care. He probably has a ton of respect for Butch as a man and wants to do him right. We hired him to do what he thinks is best and I think we should give him a shot to do that. He is looking for our next coach. It seems like we've at least confirmed that. We don't want an AD that caves to every whim that the fans scream about. Let the man work.
