The complete silence from the UTAD has really hurt this program over the last month. If Currie's plan had always been to keep CBJ through the rest of the season no matter what, then he should have come out after the UGA game and said as much. All he would have had to say is "we completely support CBJ and are looking forward to watching the team grow and get better and achieve the highest goals possible this season. All decisions regarding the future will be made after a full assessment of this season and the program are made." Simple. Done. No daily speculation of will he/won't he.

Instead, there has been a complete void of information and support from the UTAD and that void is being filled by rumor and speculation, which has in turn created a completely toxic environment around the program. Thus, recruits are jumping off the ship, etc.

Currie may end up making a great hire (if he indeed makes a change) but I am giving him very low marks right now for his complete silence regarding this team and overall handling of the situation so far.

If we go 4-8 I'm laying partial blame at curries feet. Would be literally the worst season in UT football history.

I throw this up there as definitely the most frustrating. At least in 2012, we could at least pin our losses on the lack of talent on defense. Bama had offensive linemen faster than our safeties.

This year the offense has talent. We have arguably the best rb in the SEC and a whole host of players that multiple recruiting services graded out pretty f@#$ing well before they showed up here.

Larry Scott is an unmitigated disaster, and that's what makes this so frustrating.

Looking like JAllen was wrong. He was pretty admanant that Jones would be gone after the Bama game. Unless it happens sometime later today, I'm marking him off the list of people who might know what's going on. LWS, JAV and Atlanta Vol are about the only ones who have close to a clue IMO.

I think you are hearing a lot of speculation more so than actually info from anyone right now. Some of the speculation may turn out to be correct, but its not necessarily because they have been told that by the very small handful that would know. Until Jones is "officially" gone it would be hard for me to believe anything.

The only thing that I feel confident in is the fact that Jones doesn't want to be here and his season is making that feeling mutual with fans and those that matter.

I'm not going to play "these guys SHOULD or SHOULDN'T be on the list." I'm rolling with who LWS says is realistic.

My order:

Frost
Brohm
Morris
Campbell
Doeren
Durkin

I don't know that Mike Houston was a legit name when it was thrown out but I'm interested in him as well.

He will be a great hire for someone. If UNC makes a change I could see them taking a very hard look at him.

It's always been Butch's way to find his coaches other jobs instead of flat out firing them. Wouldn't surprise me if Currie is doing the same with Butch.

Currie is not gonna make a statement like that because he can't paint himself into a corner. Reason being, I don't think he sees it as "no matter what".

He should say it anyway, even if it isn't true. Because it calms the toxicity down. If we were to slip to 3-6 or something he could always still make a change and no one is gonna say "But but but, you said you weren't gonna do this..." etc.

The point of coming out and saying something (ANYTHING!!) is to quiet all of the noise and toxicity as best you can. That's part of his job. He's failing at it.

I just want someone with a history of winning. Frost has it both as a player and coach. Morris had it in the high school ranks and as the OC at Clemson. Brohm won at WKU. Mike Houston has literally never had a bad season.

Give me a winner.

Yeah, I good with possibly just trading coaches with UCF. Frost here, and Butch at UCF. I think that could be a good spot for Butch.

So if he comes out after UGA (when many knew for sure it was happening) and he said "Jones is going to finish the season regardless". You actually think the fans are gonna just say "ok" and just wait after losing to SC and getting blasted by Bama again?

Currie biggest obstacle is not when he fires Jones this year or whether he makes a statement that he's not being fired until the end of Nov. Its hiring the guy that fixes it. If thats where his focus is (and from what Ive heard to this point, it is) the rest is irrelevant.

Yes to paragraph 1. He doesn't have to say "regardless." He can just say something along the lines of what I quoted in my OP. Just has to get the point across that CBJ will be evaluated at season end. That doesn't put an end to the speculation of who replaces him, but it does at least put an end to the speculation of "will today be the day" which has occurred basically every day since UGA. He can still change his mind and fire him mid-season if he chooses. All the statement does is quiet some of the noise and take a little bit of the daily dark clouds away so that the focus can be on the games and winning/losing.

Which leads into my point on Paragraph 2. Yes, hiring the right replacement is goal #1, but salvaging the best season possible in 2017 is also a huge goal. The best way an AD can impact that is to try and clear as much air as possible so that there isn't as much toxicity around the team and players.

He also has to be mindful of recruiting and the early signing period. Could be a deciding factor.

At this point, I am questioning where to put Currie

I don't think Beaver is a Thornton. Just a golfer. I don't think he is trolling us, I think he is giving information that somebody is telling him.
