I have a bad suspicion that this administration isn't going to do anything of note. If he gets us to 6 wins I think nothing will change other than OC.

As someone who supported our coach, I worried (before the season) that Currie was the type of AD who would make a move if we dipped below a certain threshold. I never envisioned that Butch would lose the TEAM as he has. They’re phantoms out there. Final record is immaterial. Butch is past tense...just a matter of when they hold the PC.

After he loses to Kentucky he will have lost to Vanderbilt multiple times, South Carolina multiple times and now Kentucky. Unacceptable. He should absolutely be fired after the Bama bloodbath. There's no point in prolonging the inevitable.

We have a better chance at beating KY with an interim. Why give Butch a chance to lose to them?

That’s your theory. Not reality.

Been around long enough to read between the lines on this stuff. Hubbs and Hyams know he ain't coming back but officially they aren't going to say that. Hubbs gave it away the other day saying this would be his 6th coaching search. Hyams has always made a point that he won't discuss candidates for a coaching job that is still filled but he is openly discussing who could be interim and things like that on his show. He knows. Jimmy and Brent are pros though and know how to conduct themselves.

Butch ain't coming back next year. Keep worrying yourself to death though.

Hyams on radio right now says Butch has to beat Ky.

Does he coach that game?

I could see them letting him coach UK game, and if we lose (which is likely) fire him then. Hoping to get interim bump going into homecoming to avoid an embarrassing loss/have more than 50K in the stands.

Why would he say “I don’t believe Currie has made a decision on Butch”? I mean, these are your theories and that’s fine, but don’t act like you know it for a fact

If butch isn't gone after Bama that would indicate to me that the coach we're most hotly pursuing is currently coaching. Why would an interim have a better chance of winning games? These players are still playing under every coach we have, not just the HC.

Because Currie hasn't reached a decision on when in the season he's letting him go? Because he's not gonna tell a reporter a date and get that reported before he actually fires a coach? There's other far more likely reasons other than Currie wanting Butch to coach here next year

That’s not what Hyams said

Because that's the company line that Jimmy was spoon fed.

That's my opinion sure but after 20 years of following the program and Jimmy you can just tell when Jimmy has been given his script to read from.

Speaking of Raiders....imagine how people that dropped Amari Cooper felt last night. Not sure why anyone would do that but someone did in a league I am in. It was too late to grab before game though as he was stuck in waiver freeze time

I’ve seen some questionable drops so far in my league lol. Someone dropped AP when he was traded, I scooped him up, and someone dropped Zeke two days ago but I didn’t get to him in time. There’s been a few other ones too that I was surprised at.

Dropping Cooper though? That’s just plain dumb lol.

I wonder if his wife really does want him to take the job but he isn't interested? Would make sense that he compliments the university in any public comments he can to appease her. Then he can always say he didn't think he was a fit.

Why would the compliments be only to appease her? He coached at UT and met his wife at UT. Could it be that he just actually likes UT regardless of if he coaches here?

Sure - I think he does. But that "dream job" stuff is overplayed I think.

Anyway, I don't think he's taking this job.

If Currie works all the back channels, and no o e worth a crap wants to come, you don’t fire Butch unless you think you have a very clear upgrade.

If Butch is 8-4 and Cam Cameron and Mike Bobo are the only ones interested, I’m keeping Butch and see what happens next year.

It’s the right call. Currie doesn’t have a trigger finger with no fish on the line

Fool don’t know CP

I’m just disappointed he didn’t immediately reverse field with his arm still outstretched

All he needs is a crease. I hope the raiders can keep working him into the passing game. That’s obviously where his downfall is but if you can just ways to get him the ball in space or stretch the field he will make plays.

It doesn’t help him or us for him to coach KY. I hope the rumors about him resigning Sunday are true

Me too. I'm getting to the point to where I really only put stock into what Hyams puts out there. He's more connected with what's going on than just about anybody IMO. He's almost always right on.

Bass, Hyams won’t go on radio while Butch is still technically the coach and say Butch is a dead man walking. That’s not his style. Maybe he coaches UK, maybe he doesnt, but the decision has been made, IMO. Butch won’t be here next year.

Most people think that, including me. I just also think he genuinely does love UT and any comments he makes about it are because of that fact.
