Remember he is not coaching so its ethical for us to talk to him. With Chip Kelly likely not on our list due to prior compliance issues (also as per Larry and other sources), there really arent any other coaches we would be interested in that are out of coaching right now. Coaches currently under contract with other schools or NFL teams are off limits during the season for direct contact as is their agents. Back channeling does go on through intermediaries but that would be very closely guarded and really not subject to message board fodder. There is no doubt we are making a play for JG, and will do so in a big way at the appropriate time. The question is whether he wants back into coaching at the college level. It appears unlikely but one never knows for sure.
Larry says 5%. I would say its a little better than that, but nowhere near 50/50.
As fans lets show some class to Coach Jones. He gave his all and did get the program back on solid ground. I feel for the man and really really wish he could have gotten it done.

I have a bad suspicion that this administration isn't going to do anything of note. If he gets us to 6 wins I think nothing will change other than OC.

He's done. It will cost the AD more money to keep him than to fire him. They also can't extend him, and letting him coach another year without an extension as a lame duck coach would set the program back big time.

Can’t believe people still think he might survive and coach here next year. Butch is done.

This is the same stuff that I've read five years ago about John Gruden everybody gets their hopes up and then everybody gets their panties in a wad oh he turned us down but there was no official offer same stuff same crap but you have to ask yourself who in their right mind wants to come to Tennessee in playing Alabama twice cause that's what I they have to do to be successful and lose to Alabama the regular season SEC championship and you still want the man fired doesn't matter who the coaches are some of you will ***** to ***** that's just your make up 😳
