If this is true, then once again, John Currie is failing the TN football program and it’s fans

Responding to being asked about Albert Haynesworth’s tweet.

“I think that John Currie has not made a decision yet, so I think it’s premature.”

“If I’m told correctly then Butch Jones coaches against Kentucky, and if he beats Kentucky, he is going to coach another week. And he may coach the rest of he year if that occurs. I don’t believe the Haslems and John Currie and whoever else is in the decision-making process has made a decision right now.”

Hyams has been on this the whole time. I'm not saying he's wrong because I trust him, but he's going off the assumption Butch will have to be fired. The working theory from others is he may agree to a buyout after Alabama.

Here's the thing: Hyams and Hubbs cannot come out and say Butch will be fired because, let's say by some dumb luck he keeps his job. They then cannot go to him for stories because he's going to be pissed they told people he was a dead man walking. They know where their bread is buttered.

I take it that Hyams has to tread carefully right now because Butch is technically still the head coach (hopefully that changes very soon). I cannot believe that Currie and UT admin would be that dumb, surely.

The thing that is concerning is that he says that Currie has not made a decision yet. If that’s true and Butch is allowed to stay because he beats Ky, then we’re in big trouble and Currie is letting us all down, and worst of all, he’s failing the players

Hyams and Hubbs are gonna cover this thing the respectful way. They aren't gonna throw dirt on the grave while the guy is still employed.

Zero % chance Butch Jones is coaching here in January.

Let it play out.

How is it a zero % chance if the Haslams and Currie have not made a decision yet?

There could be a thinking that 8-4 saves hm. That was my thinking all along I have just given up on achieving that. It seems reasonable to wait until that is mathematically impossible to make a final decision imo

I didn’t realize that the standard at Tn was beating KY

After he loses to Kentucky he will have lost to Vanderbilt multiple times, South Carolina multiple times and now Kentucky. Unacceptable. He should absolutely be fired after the Bama bloodbath. There's no point in prolonging the inevitable.

That’s what Hyams says, and I’m 90% sure he qualifies it with an “I don’t believe they have made a decision yet” or “In my opinion, they haven’t made a decision yet.”

It’s not a set in stone, direct from the source report.

Edit to add, Hyams is as solid as a reporter as you could want, but sometimes he does respond oddly to the digital world. I think it annoys him and that’s why he doubles down on stuff like this l. He’s very conservative and won’t report rumors or info from some $50k a year donor that over values his place on The Hill. He’s also slow to adopt online sources, respected or not. Example? He continues to report the wrong buyout number for Bilema at Arkansas even though Football Scoop and several others have put out corrected info.

I think at 8-4 he gets a new job but this team isn't going 8-4.

Assuming, of course, that reports of a buyout agreement aren't 100% accurate, it seems to me you've seriously hurt your negotiating leverage if one (Currie) was to confide to the press that he has his replacement for a coach that hasn't yet been fired.

Dude you are getting your whities all bunched up over your interpretation of somebody's speculation of a situation that they know nothing factual about. Stop.

What? Hyams says he doesn’t believe that Currie has made a decision on Butch. That’s not my interpretation, that’s what he said. Other people are posting their interpretations and theories that “oh that’s just the narrative” etc etc without any evidence. Oh, and I don’t wear whities, and if I did, they wouldn’t be bunched. Stop
