You really going to count out Fuentes for losing in year 1 in his 2nd game to a year 4 Butch squad with 6 NFL draftees? Hell if it weren't for turnovers he probably bests us. Fuentes is a stud
He is alright. So is Mullen. Tip my cap to both but neither makes me excited we would beat UGA or win the East.

Regarding Fuente this year?
Florida State is out. Clemson has a loss. We will see where they stand at the close of the season but I am not sold on him as the answer.

Agree about KSU being the type of place to hire an assistant or up and comer. But Currie had been there since 2009 (when Snyder was 70). Some of those guys he'd had an eye on previously are likely P5 guys now.

Maybe. Maybe I am skeptical, like LWS, about UT's criteria.

My hope is Gruden loses his mind and says yes before everyone sobers up. I do believe interest and stupid money offers are available for him and him alone. Too much smoke.

Part of me wants to just accept Tennessee is basically just going to be an 8-9 win team from now on

In the east that can mean championships...I could live with 9 and an occassional 8. You do that consistently and you usually have a good shot at a great season.
What no fan wants to admit at the start of the season is that 9 wins is usually pretty good with injuries and the like.

If you told me we could have had Richt level results for the last decade I would have been tickled.

Sorry if you guys felt like I pooped in your macaroni tonight. I was more vocal than usual on my thoughts regarding Gruden

I’m pretty loyal, and I hate to see friends strung along for a lie. There is precedence for this exact same situation on this board, and whether it was ever close or not, many, including I bought a bill of goods that ended up with Butch at the podium.

I will stand down and let it run it’s course. That doesn’t mean I’m not posting, i’ll Just try to let this be my final word on the issue.

I’m not 100% Gruden will not come. As I said earlier, faith and doubt exist as a spectrum, not absolutes, and I’ve not seen anything that compels me to jump into this. Sources I trust still say no, and just like 2012, all we hear is “smokescreen”. Maybe it’s just blowing smoke.

Love y’all. ✌️

Yeah, but we know Florida and Georgia and Bama and LSU don't settle for that. That's why we are a 2nd tier program in the SEC.

I think the beat writers have just been around incompetence and bad football teams for so long that they no longer believe anything good can happen to the program (and the newer ones like Jesse Simonton quickly believe that to be the case as well due to what they hear from the veterans). They view the program through a lens that's completely devoid of any optimism whatsoever and it's because the UT admins have proven over and over that they're incompetent or simply not truly committed to big-time athletics success.

It's a safe bet from their vantage point to think we're going to end up with someone like Bobo and also an extremely safe bet that Jon Gruden will never, ever, ever coach at the University of Tennessee. Because that's what has happened in the past.

And I would imagine they're still plugged in to some degree to things that happen behind the scenes, and it sounds like whatever those "things" are hasn't changed enough for the university to commit to being a top football program again.

Gruden>Kelly>Patterson>Fuente>Brohm>Frost>Mullen>Venables>Durkin>Norvell

Could switch Brohm and Frost if you want, Brohm might be more expensive but less risk of leaving us in the night for Nebraska.

Then you got guys that you have to make calls to just to see if they're interested but don't pursue b/c they're likely longshots.

How about we wait until after the year before we crown Frost for going undefeated? And if he does it won't be as if that program hasn't
Enjoyed elite success before. Just a few years ago to be exact.

How many good reviews on Frost did you read and seethe over before you decided he sucked? :)

From what I recall didn't Petrino leave the Falcons without even addressing the team?

Yes. He also tried to stab Louisville and Tuberville in the back by secretly negotiating with Auburn in the middle of the season. For some stupid reason, Louisville hired him back.

We’re going to end up hiring a scrub like Bobo and be right back here in 4-5 years remaining mediocre in the east and Florida will hire Scott Frost and get right back to national prominence for the foreseeable future. It’ll be Florida and GA for the east every year and we’ll remain the joke of the SEC. VQ better be totally lost on these names. Good grief that would be bad

Just checking to see if you're healing up OK. Please try not to emulate what Butch feels like on the hot seat anymore.

Catching up this morning. It's so funny when Hubbs gets caught covering stuff up. Lmao.

He and Butch are friends and depend on each other to survive. He's not going to rock the boat until he knows he won't fall out.

You seem really bothered by this. Have made multiple posts about it. Why?

I'm guessing but he's not setting himself up for disappointment.(Been there, done it). If things happen for the better, he'll be doing backflips with the rest of us.

I tend to agree with him, though. The Tennessee thing is to end up with Mike Bobo when everyone is yelling Gruden.
