Nobody outside of Lamar Jackson can run like Dobbs right now.
He's a genetatinal talent when it came to running the ball as a QB. Not only in terms of his elusiveness but also his durability. Its amazing how he never even got hit that hard to have to miss a play or two in a game. He always found a way to not take a big hit. And he also ran with surprising power given his size.
Runners like Dobbs don't come around very often. Fans should be glad they got to witness what he did here at Tennessee. Cause it'll be a long time before you see someone like him ever again.
We had zero turnovers. My first rule for my QB is to protect my football. He almost didn't but he had no turnovers. And yes, even a high school maybe even middle school QB knows he should throw that ball away. Bet JG does as well. However, it was his first start in a big SEC game even if SC is bad. He has a chance to get better but QD will never get better if he will not step into throws. I have always wanted to best QB and was pulling for QD until I just could not anymore. It was time for someone else to get a chance.
He definitely needs to work on where he holds the ball and getting rid of the ball more quickly.
But he stood tall in the pocket against a pass rush and not thrown wobblers off his back foot more times in one game against USCe than QD has in the 4/5 games he's played all season.
Blind luck that there were no turnovers. He put it on the field twice.
In terms of passing...no turnovers in 133 yards...half of which came in the last desperation drive. I wouldn't be that impressed.
Y'all are ignoring the elephant in the room: they didn't throw downfield because they were afraid of picks. Why? Because he does it in practice.
JG holds the ball at his waist, gets the ball knocked away from him and ran into multiple sacks. But please tell me more about this pocket presence he has.
Fyp. No but Frost would fit the bill...
He's not too expensive. He's young and energetic. He's seems to run a clean program. He must value academics to be top 15 APR. He's clearly got a good offensive scheme.
The only cons I can think of is no coaching experience in a big league, which is a big question mark.
Obviously, our stagnant offense is not just the QB's fault but..
I will say that with QD, we managed to beat what may be a very good GT team and came close to beating Florida. Unfortunately, UMASS and the Georgia game was a horror show.
With JG, I didn't see the obvious telegraphing and he didn't seem afraid to be hit. At times he held the ball too long, but he didn't throw into triple coverage and no turnovers.
Eh, I saw a lot of tools to work with Saturday. With good coaching and a good scheme he can be really good.
The part that troubles me is I still see an immature, spoiled (for lack of better term) kid that threw a tantrum when the game didn't go the way he wanted it to at the end. I understand hating to lose but the helmet throwing was over the top.
Agreed..watching his UT career highlite is amazing. It still befuddles me how he would have those total crap games sometimes though.
And the way hes beating guys. Isnt like hes scraping out wins. Hes destroying everyone he plays
