This is pretty much how I feel too, except I think having the walking dead as coach at this point is dumb. I think the team would be able to perform better without Butch Jones around, so I totally disagree on that point. I really don't want to lose eight this year.

I think Currie has his pulse on the team. I think if he had indications that the team would benefit from Butch being gone, I think he'd make the move. I also think there is a little gamesmanship going on, maybe to get Butch to reduce his buyout (IMO, conspiracy theorist in me :)).

Also, I find it unbelievable that we haven't seen more decommits. That tells me something is going on behind the scenes. The recruits are being told something that is keeping them on board.

Here is my theory on when/If Currie pulls trigger during season. Kentucky is a must win, lose to Kentucky and Butch is terminated Sunday giving Hoke 4 games to win 3 and get bowl eligible. My guess is the cerebral decision has already been made after Georgia and behind scenes and Kentucky week makes 5 weeks to come up a narrow list of interested/qualifying candidates.

Beat Kentucky and he waits until season end.

He doesn't deserve to coach against Kentucky

I get your point but I think it's a little more than 10. Any of these coaches that come from the mid-major ranks come with a little more risk. People view those types of hires beneath the University of Tennessee. They look at other big time programs and think Tennessee should hire a Saban, Kelly, Gruden, or even a tier lower at an established school, take one from another power 5 school. Right or wrong that is the perception amongst a lot of fans.

I believe the number really should be much less than 10. Sure there are probably more than 10 they've heard of and would probably be impressed with, only because they've heard the name so much, with hype. I'm thinking coaches like Leach, Bielema, Strong, Orgeron, even Harbaugh.

These people you speak of have probably heard those names and think we should hire them. They're big names. But if they bother Googling them they wouldn't be so impressed. Honestly, I believe there's only about 4 current coaches that most of us, myself included, could accurately say would be good hires for us without have to Google the names. They are Saban, Meyer, Swinney, Fisher, and maybe Richt and Franklin. And none of those have been seriously mentioned here.

And even people like Gruden people should honestly research since he's never been a hc in college.

You're totally missing my point. You obviously know the landscape around college football, many don't. I think the list would be a little longer. Many of these folks won't be happy with another rising unknown coach.

So after UGA it was 9.2 to get rid of him. After USC it’s like 8.48. Are they just going to the longest possible week to reduce it by another half mil?
