I for one will not. If we hire some scrub that we have to google I'm done investing so much money/time into this program. As you said, you get what you pay for. For the life of me I'll never understand why a program that pulls in over 100 mill would settle for a Satterfield/Manny Diaz type. Beer taste with a champagne budget. Not saying they're going to again this time, but if they do, I'll be over it.

I get the feeling that many over there understand that many fans are about to say screw it and move on. There is a lot of competition for entertainment dollars these days. I get the feeling many think like you and will say "Call me when you get serious", "I'll invest when you invest." I think the days of taking the UT fan base for granted may be slowly diminishing. Many are becoming wise to it. I think this hire is the biggest decision since the decision to fire Coach Fulmer. I also think the only way to have the fans on board with a huge amount of enthusiasm is to name a big name, well established coach. Remember, the casual fan doesn't know coaches like Frost, Venables, and Brohm.

On the bright side, Ryan Callahan basically saide this this morning:

He said many of the commits really want to come to Tennessee and not so much for Butch. He said that's why we haven't seen more decommits at this point. He said many are taking a wait and see approach.

Plus I think Currie is the kind of guy that would want to leave his mark on the program. I think he will swing for the fences and see if he can land a big fish. No guarantee he will land one though.

John Currie is failing Tn football. What is he waiting for?

I have little doubt that Currie hasn't already fired Butch in his mind, just hasn't pulled the trigger yet. Everything I've read from various insiders gives me confidence in him. I think he's currently getting his ducks in a row, and Jones will most likely be fired next week. By that time he should know who exactly he'll be targeting and who's interested. As much as I want Jones sent out of here on a rail, firing him next week will probably be the best time. Let the players rally around Hoke, and let's see if we can't have a strong November.

Problem is Currie is only the face of the AD. If it was solely up to him I would give him a greater benefit of the doubt. From what I've been told, there's a lot of dysfunction between all the parties involved. I'm not confident that we get everyone on the same page. That's Curries biggest hurdle imo.

That's certainly encouraging. Hope the class stays somewhat decent.

"I told my football team that there's only one place it would leave for. And that was the University of Tennessee." That was a bold face lie. I remember watching that video several times back then trying to convince myself that he'll be good. I'm not making that mistake again this time. I won't believe we'll get back to where we need to be unless we hire a proven guy, or I actually see it on the field with some mid tier guy.

GT is one of four teams ranked top 20 in both offense and defense. With what we have seen lately, still not sure how Tennessee won. UT could easily be 2-3 or even 1-4 if UMASS had won. It was close to happening. [B{Need to fire Butch now.[/B]

No disagreement there. And if wishing death on another expedites that...just sound it out. See you when you come back to us. :wavey:

That was before the coaching staff lost the team by dropping the ball vs. Florida IMO.
