I got DOGGED for saying he shouldn't be offered. Smh Dooley satisfied the masses by offering a local star a free education.

Brandon Johnson will never be a slot wr..he will be out on the perimeter and don't be surprise that he will be the starter..nobody talks about him which is a good thing..its good that he always fly under the radar..look for a break out season..he going to shock a lot of fans this year..

I'm 100% with you on tosses and reverses, which I've said several times this morning. I believe he could be dangerous doing those things.

Run him on stretch plays. Put some real pressure on a defense to account for their gaps.

He can't be worse at screens than we have been the last couple years as a WR group. What's the harm in letting him try? When you have someone that fast it seems a waste to force feed JJ and Josh Smith on a bubble screen. No offense to them, but they should be blocking on screens, they don't have the acceleration of Berry.

Byrd was blocking for Smith on screens last year. Our coaches act as if you have to earn the right to catch screens and things.

Snoop has praised Warrior and mentioned how he has made significant progress on understanding the defense. I think I remember an interview with Warrior where he commented that around the bowl game, the light started coming on for him and he started to really understand what was going on. I'll bet he looks like a different player this year.

You are hoping he has it, and just hasn't shown it. I'm assuming that since I haven't seen it in 3 years out of him, that it might not be elite enough to get big play after big play in this offense.

I've seen more big plays out of him when he has had the ball in his hands than you have seen failures out of him with the ball in his hands. That is fact, not speculation or assumptions. He may not be a great WR or a great RB, but he is the type of dangerous weapon that you find ways to get the ball in his hands to put pressure on the other team.

Yeah he was, and Shoop referred to him as the next Cam Sutton. I haven't heard a word about him this year.

I have and they have him primarily backing up Gaulden at nickel. He and 1 more DB are pushing each other for the #2 nickel spot. Can't remember who other DB is at the moment.:twocents:
PS Abernathy and Buchanan are getting lots of reps at nickel. I'm sure there's another player or two getting reps there. There just isn't a lot of talk going on about that particular position.

BB needs to be more tactful, and I am not sure that he can be. He comes off confrontational with the way he responds. "That's a lie." Could be stated in a better manner.

I've said nothing about him not having big play ability. He is a big play waiting to happen when he has time to build up speed and blow through people. This is a fact, as you say.

I have hesitation about him being able to succeed in this offense if he's asked to do certain things, which I think I've said enough times this morning.

Callaway is my pick there this year. Johnson is a good player though.

My only worry about Callaway is he doesn't seem to be that explosive of an athlete. Hubbs said the same last night (although he did look good returning kicks against Tech). He's got great hands tho. Im really. Curious to see what he can do this year. I'm excited about Johnson cause he is so smooth of a route runner. If Byrd is going to play offense we need to see him be a big playmaker at that position this year. He showed flashes of it, especially at aTm. But if they don't throw him the ball this year and still keep him on offense, then man, that would be frustrating. He is such a great athlete.

The wiggle is there in those videos.

IMO, I think he has added some weight that has changed some of that wiggle. I just don't see the same runner in college. But I have no problem giving him a chance. He does have a great stiff arm. For anyone saying he was wasted, he has helped win games in the return game. Not a waste at all.

Agreed on Kongbo. He has rare Clowney-esque athletic ability. I think the struggles last year and this offseason have helped from a growth and maturity level.

If he reaches his full potential, whew.

We have offered and signed way worse players than Devrin Young. Especially during the Dooley era.

If he was good enough to play significant snaps then that should tell you he was good enough to offer considering where our roster was.

Kongbo and Taylor both have high draft pick potential to me. Third and long should be a track meet to the QB. Are we better than last year at DE? Not from having a dominating presence. But are we more athletic? Yes IMO

I means it's a bold face lie. What did you want me to say? Kamara and CP prove that theory wrong easily. We just watched McCaffrey cut up. Reggie Bush wasn't too shabby. This has been going on for years. Like he should've left it to Berry not bought up that nonsense.

It's too early to even assume anything like that. Safer to say "the athletic potential" is there but unproven. Just too hard for me to accept anyone being faster than Barnett in getting in opponents backfield.
