Charlottesville white nationalists riots

I understand the significance of what '72 is saying. The issue is a little deeper. Why were people fed up with both parties and how and why did they conclude that Trump was the answer? '72 said he spoke in a way they could understand. I think that point is starting to scratch the surface.
They concluded that Trump was the answer because he was the only one who criticized the 2 headed Republican/Democrat monster.

But Trump can't help himself. He's at least half the problem. I'm just saying the Press has no moral high ground here - they've jumped into the Jerry Springer show mentality with both feet. Is it for rating$ or ideology? Probably some of both but Trump feeds them daily and they lap it up.

IOW - neither side can stop and until one side does it will not change. Both bore this shizz show.

I agree. Trump is undisciplined and a very poor speaker; he undermines himself daily.

The press shouldn't even be allowed to dignify themselves with the term. They are no different than the pre football season click bait clowns. These are not the kind of press that the founding fathers thought they should afford privileges.

I am not 100% sure that I am thinking about the correct poster, but I believe that '72 doubled down every time when asked whether he believed Trump would win. Most others lost confidence at one point or another.
I wasn't the only one. Zappa 69 was strong on him throughout (longer than me), and I think there may have been one other.

They concluded Trump was the answer because he happened to be running against the most unpopular candidate in history. It also helped that Clinton team ran a terrible campaign. Make no mistake, if Jim Webb had been the nominee, he would have cleaned Trump's clock. Yes 72 is right about how Trump connected with people. He spoke in a non-political vernacular which allowed him to communicate with voters in a very visceral way.

Never forget he first had to beat out 17 republicans for the nomination. Forget the whole Clinton thing (that's a debate for another day) and focus on the 17 republicans he beat.

I agree that Trump said what some were desperately wanting to hear, and again that brings us back to scratching the surface.

Normal people don't go to protests. You're part of the fringe if you do. One political group has a much larger "fringe" than the other even though they pretend not to.

If you are spending your free time at a protest you must have a sh!tty life with little to no direction or future. And this goes for all protests, abortions, nazis, antifa, occupy, left wing anti free speech, etc. That is why progressives protest more, their lives are awful which is supported time and time again by low scores in a variety of happiness indexes and hatred towards anyone more successful than them.
I've never been to a protest, and I avoided the ones at U.T. when I was there.

This and a few examples:

Many of the crossovers (from Obama to Trump) were tired of being ignored by the party. Both Obama and Clinton told them "your livelihoods are relics of the past; the government will help you instead". These are proud working people who were being told to in effect give up and move on under the "caring protection" of the government.

The Dem party increasingly became obsessed with fighting for "marginalized" communities rather than working middle class families. Policy emphasis was placed on illegal immigrants, refugees, transgendered, etc. Nothing wrong with supporting these groups but it became the primary focus of the party.

The final straw was the deplorables commentary. Hillary suggested if you didn't buy into D policy as outlined above you were an "irredeemable" person who was "deplorable".

Basically, the Dems drove a key part of their base away in an attempt to mollify and attract a coalition of marginalized communities.

Trump stepped in and said - I'm going to get your jobs back, I'm going to focus on the citizens of this country rather than prioritize the citizens of other countries and I'll help you recreate the American Dream that Dems are saying is gone for you and will be replaced by government programs.

It's just like Carville's "it's the economy stupid". Dems took a key part of their base for granted and ran an uninspiring candidate who had no message other than "it's my turn or it's a woman's turn".

The result is that a highly flawed guy like Trump won in the most unlikely election in recent history.

Or it could have been the Russians...

You also conveniently glossed over the more important and interesting question, how did he win the republican nomination? Forget Clinton, we know what the Trumpsters think of her and why.

Also true.

not sure what is worth. the idiot, race baiting left who calls for this stupid stuff, or their ignorant base who actually believes this fascist propaganda.

Jim Webb is the only Dem that could have gotten my vote; I honestly can't figure out why he's a Dem, though. It would actually be nice to vote for somebody; the choices for over twenty years have been abominable.
I thought it was hilarious when he answered "all lives matter" when given the choice of that and "black lives matter," and they just about booed him off the stage. He decided he was in the wrong party at that point.

He won the republican nomination because the base has felt betrayed by the establishment and he was able to sell himself as an anti-Washington candidate. This really isn't that hard.

The time has come!* Clear your conscience and rid yourself of all things related to slavery, oppression, and white.*

I'm doing my part to assist you with this monumental effort.* It shall be a tremendous burden on me and my family, however, we feel it is our duty.

Lincoln, Washington, Franklin, Kennedy, Grant, Sacagawia, Anthony...collect all the paper prints and metal engravings of these evil bastards, stuff them in an envelope and send it to me: malinoisvol, PO Box BR549, Knoxville, TN,* 37777. I will ensure they never darken your doorstep with their oppressive shadow again!

Be sure to tell your friends and family to do the same. Remember,* We're all in this together!

Stuff that envelope! Lick that stamp! Do it TODAY!

We are in agreement that he told his supporters what they wanted to hear. I think we are to the point in the analysis where we are now looking at what was it they wanted to hear and why?

I have a problem with the thread title.

Shouldn't it read "Charlottesville Antifa riots"?

I know, "How dare I, I must be racist", right?

History all depends on whose ox is being gored. (Or whose protester is killed.)

One hell of a party when they all but kick him out of the party for saying all lives matter. The loony base will not try to nominate someone a bit more moderate than Hillary, the next nominee will be more in line with socialists like barry.

As someone who lives in Lee County, whereas the Lee is that of none other than Robert E. Lee and whose 10 ft. portrait hangs over the County Commissioners hall. I've decided how to handle the impending showdown, by entrepreneurial know how.

Mr. Al " I wanna kill all white people" Sharpton......says now they should defund the Jefferson Memorial.

I think we should embrace that as a way of showing where this lunacy is headed. Falls under two categories: give 'em enough rope, and let them open their mouths and prove what we've known all along. While we're at it, maybe it's time to feed the the monument slayers some of Lincoln's lesser know quotes as bait.

The thing to do would be hack the evening news and show a split screen with Isis and our own terrorists destroying history side by side.

I will tell you how he won the Rep. nomination. Republican voters were fed up after handing the complete reins of government to their party back in 02 , or whenever it was, and watched them govern like Democrats. They watched their jobs go away, illegal immigration increase, the debt explosion, neocon war hawks in charge, political correctness, etc. Their party is still doing it today, except for Trump. I predict that some of the Rinos will be sent home. If they are replaced by Dems, what difference does it really make?

Also, the exceptionally large field of people running for the nomination kept the party from running Trump out early.

Several flaws to your entrepreneurial endeavor. One group has a f##kton of guns and ammo. The other group doesn't have the cash to buy the bats.
