Peter Burns Twitter - Tennessee Football Stats

I'm not sure why the first part of that statement is in blue, because it's entirely true.

Florida also didn't have a QB, but that isn't why they lost that game.

So the 28 points UT put up prior to the Hail Mary don't count toward our win? And our D holding them to 24 in 59 minutes was luck? And let me guess, Georgia's deep ball score with less than a minute left was NOT luck?

BUTCH OWNS GEORGIA!!!!!! Lol

At least under Butch I always feel we'll compete in every game. That's not been the case in quite a while IMHO.

Well after the fact they were good. They won their division and gave the national champs all they wanted.

That's fair. I was only taking issue with the idea that the 'negavols' were building them up as a good team who could beat us, only to say they sucked after we won.

I'm happier with CBJ's coaching effort for the 2013 Georgia game (a loss) compared to almost every other game he's coached at Tennessee.

2013 UGA loss: He was aggressive. He didn't back down when we got down early. He played for the win. He put us in a position to win and 1 play beyond his control cost us the game.

More recently he's been overthinking it IMO. Stop making excuses. Stop bragging - let fans and/or the media do the talking about accomplishments and achievements.

Just shut up and win.

I will agree that Butch's best coached game was the loss to UGA. I think that gave us all hope for the future. The next game we upset a very good South Carolina game. Fast forward 3 years....

I watched the South Carolina game yesterday on the SEC network and it was just awful, we were lethargic, uninspired and Dobbs was not himself. I don't know what went on last year in the locker room, but sometimes it goes beyond the coaches, and it's impossible to recover. Ultimately it does fall on Butch, but I can't help but believe that last years team chemistry wasn't recoverable. I noticed that after Hurd scored the first TD vs USCjr there was no excitement from the team or congratulating him, everybody pretty much went to the bench. I think this year will be drastically different. It's ashame that Hurd didn't quit before the season started, I would love to have seen what Kamara and Kelly could've done together as the primary ball carriers.

The biggest problem I have with Butch is the chest thumping and cheerleading.

Just put a lid on all of that and be genuine. Don't pee on my leg and tell me it's raining.

Don't brag about "HUGE" accomplishments like 3 bowl wins in a row.

Just win. Make us proud of the team's and coaches' effort when we lose.

Every time he speaks positively - he's talking about what the players have accomplished and he's speaking to the young men (and their parents) that might be future Vols. I, for one, like and appreciate it.

I do hope we play more agressively out of the gate this year.

I guess I wasn't clear. It's not Butch being positive that annoys me.

It's how Butch "invents" goals and accomplishments that are fake.

He actually said that one of his and the staff's goals from when they first came to Tennessee was to get a QB on Gruden's QB camp.

Seriously? Dobbs did it and I applaud him for making it, but that is NOT a serious goal. That's pathetic.

Everything is not an achievement, accomplishment worthy of praise or trophies.

Humility and being genuine/real with the media would be my preference.

I read the first few post and got disgusted with a bunch of you so called Vol fans. Some "fans" will never be satisfied. It is bloody EFFIN ridiculous how sad some of you are. Let the football season get here so you can have something else to b!t€|=| about.

What do you expect from a hungry, passionate fanbase after losing to 2 bottom feeders? Many ppl hadn't forgotten that. Win!

Ahh, the classic "you would hate him even if he won the NC" bull****. Make an argument so outlandish, it can't possibly be proven true.

It's not outlandish at all. Nega's will say the reason we won the NC was because of other reasons. It's really not that hard to see.

Champions of _____ ! (fill in the blank)

Funny how those teams are really good teams until UT beats them - then they are mediocre. Same was said about VT - great team, going to beat UT, then UT won and VT becomes a mediocre team.

Some of you are so predictable.

I don't think anybody confused Nebraska with a good team much less a really good team going into the game after 3 Ls by an average of 32 points. Or NW with their 2 Ls by an average of 34. Iowa was 7-5, so that kinda speaks for itself.

Yes, UT has won 3 straight bowl games.
No, the teams were not mediocre after losing to UT. They were mediocre before that.

People are so quick to give there negative opinion. I see progress for the first time since the good old days when Fulmer was leading our Gridiron Vols into battle.

It's still stupid to complain about winning. (Not calling you stupid Beecher.)

Obviously when some say "just win!" that's not actually what they mean. They mean win and then they'll decide if it's a valid win or not.

Sorry for jumping in the middle of the conversation.

I jump in them all the time.:)

I don't recall many claiming the 3 bowl opponents as "really good teams" before hand. And if they did, and they then called them "mediocre" because UT beat them, then Im with ya. Which was specific to the post I responded to.

Having said that, they beat who the bowls put in front of them. When you go to Nashville instead of New Orleans, you get a mediocre Neb team instead of a really good OU team. I doubt any here would call a win over OU in the Sugar equivalent to beating that Neb team in Nashville. Some would see the difference just in the bowl (which does matter) but I see a bigger difference in the quality of team you beat.

If I didn't know better, I'd think you were new here.:)

Going off topic for a minute, but are you related to the people in your profile pic? Everytime I see it I wonder if it's your parents or grandparents or something?
