It's better now than it was the last few seasons under Fulmer. We are moving in the right direction.

The stats are what they are a measuring stick. Yes, last season wasn't what we desired, but then again over 100 other FBS teams would have loved to have won 9 games. There's room for improvement and we are headed in the right direction.

I was nodding my head the whole time and then you used Bama as an example. They are losing playoff or championship games, one loss a season.

Here's my reason for being positive. Shoop's system is complex, injuries forced guys to play who weren't ready physically or mentally. A year later he has his coaches and most of the same players back.

The offense had 2 bad games, SCe and Bama. The defense was terrible. I'm hoping this year both click.

Last time I checked we didn't schedule Iowa, Northwestern, or Nebraska, we were selected to play them. We won those games, convincingly I might add. What else are we supposed to do?

My only problem with those stats are that we have had one of the worst decades in Tennessee football, so while we are improving, to compare the current results to the last decade are not truly indicative of the overall success and expectations of the program. The overall GPA is excellent though, regardless of the above. I do believe Butch is a great guy who molds our players into great young men, but we need to see results on the field now too.

I would cool it, but UT used to lose to those type teams under Fulmer, Dooley and Kiffin.

Butch deserves credit for 3 straight bowl wins. 😀

So you're advocating that we fire the pilot in Denver? Butch has his faults, but if u had asked most on here if we could break both Uga and UF streaks would they take that. We haven't beaten UF since I was a Soph at UT in 2004. God it's like we hate our own coach every damn day of the week. I can see if we were 6- whatever.

I'm not 100% on Butch be we are definitely heading in the right direction. Yes he's made some bonehead coaching errors and we've had too many key players go down with injuries but, as it has been said: sometimes it's better to stick with the devil you know vs. the one you don't.

I'm right there with you. Season right around the corner and more negas on here than pumpers. I am excited to see who our new QB will be, excited to see the production of our DBs this year with our new coach, excited to see if our OL will be better with their new coach, and a little anxious about our DL without Barnett and Reeves-Maybin at LB. Also a little anxious about new OC having never called plays at this level before. The one thing I do know though is that I will always love my Vols. So to all you negas, please shut up for a while. We all know the things you constantly bring up and want to be depressed about. Quit trying to bring us all down to your level.

Three straight bowl wins have occurred only 3 other times in the history or Tennessee football.


1994-1996 (Fulmer)

- Tennessee beat VT, Northwestern, Ohio State

1985-1987 (Majors)

- Tennessee beat Indiana, Minnesota, Miami

1970-1972 (Battle)

- Tennessee beat LSU, Arkansas, Air Force

I thought it was implied that a bigger plane meant more fuel and that a better pilot wouldn't fly a plane that couldn't make it to the destination.


But I'm on VN, so I should have spelled it out more clearly.

Cools stats OP but KY and Vandy build statues for coaches that accomplish back to back 9 win seasons and 3 straight bowl wins. Butch needs to win at a higher level soon.

Good grief! All teams play other teams that build status for coaches (as you put it). Why do you beat up on the team you support for what every team that wins 9+ does???
