This isn't aimed at you, Behr...just in general.
Why is it that every time a new S&C coach is hired he's the greatest thing since sliced bread but when he leaves he's the reason for every injury?
All off-season last year this place was buzzing with how jacked the team looked, etc.
Tweet from VolQuest twitter account....
The boss @Brent_Hubbs with an interesting update in Destin. Butch Jones changes course, green lights some 7v7 work.
I think this is really good news. Jones reversing course on a pretty firm policy he's had since he's been here. Can't do anything but help the QBs and WRs develop good rapport over the summer imho.
It's a great idea until someone tears something and the it's Volnation meltdown!!!! "Farh Butch" "Butch is an Idiot" "Butch is a Champion of Stupidity" blah blah blah. I like the idea, it's gets some qb and wr timing down. Not to mention it helps the db get plenty of work.
Or maybe he has young/inexperienced QB's and young/inexperienced WR's and wants to give them more opportunities to get work in? Maybe? Nah, that goes against the agenda, so that couldn't be it.
This whole idea that Butch is evolving and we should expect great results based on his staff and program changes is a bunch of hogwash. Butch used his best judgment to hire the people he wanted and do it his way. Now we are witnessing desperation mode. Next step is the coaching search.

Hope he checked with Coach Rock first. Not like we have a history of injuries affecting a season...
You might as well go full speed in practice so they are ready for games. At least in practice it is a more controlled environment. If games are the most intense they have played in a year, you're just going to get your injuries in the games.
The Titans had the most intense OTAs and Training Camp they have had in a while last year. Practiced in oads every day they were allowed to. Had the least injuries to key players I remember since I started watching in the early 2000s

Butch can't win either way. We don't do 7v7 and people will complain that we're being too soft and need to be more physical. We implement 7v7 and others will gripe when injuries start mounting. It's a lose/lose

Why would "injuries start mounting"? Virtually every other major college football program in the country does 7 on 7. And if we do have a injury or two, so be it. It's a calculated risk that's absolutely worth taking....benefit far outweighs the risk imho.
Bottom line, it's not lose/lose. The injury risk is very low, while the chances our qbs and WRs will gain much better timing and chemistry is quite high.
There's only one change I need to see.well that's one way to look at it.
the other is, most all of us clamored for many, if not all, of the changes he's made this off season. and that failure on his part to do so would be death nail on his career at TN.
so, while we have 4 months to go to see if any of these changes actually show any signs of making a difference...
we all get to do the same thing...wait and see.
