Josh Dobbs - NFL Draft thread (merged)

As a Steelers fan, I support this. We will draft a QB. We need someone to develop into a backup... and I loathe Landry Jones. His first NFL play was a safety.

Dobbs is a UT hero, VFL, and great human being. He isn't the best NFL QB prospect left on the board.

According D4H he's been the best on the board before roger goodell even stepped foot in philly Thursday.

Look guys. If Dobbs isn't good in the NFL I'll admit I was wrong about him. But falling in the draft proves nothing. Many great NFL players get picked 4th round or later.

Once again Dak went 135 overall last year and look how he turned out. Jared Goff went #1 overall last year and look how he turned out.

I'm confident wherever Josh goes he'll be a STAR.

Dak is a much better passer than Dobbs. His instincts and accuracy are much better.

Maybe 2nd remaining. Kaaya Dobbs/Petermen

I'm trying hard not to let D4H not to bias me at all because like all Vol fans... I love the person Dobbs is.

BUT... if I were a GM I'd take a risk on Kelly before Dobbs or Peterman. You are probably right on Kaaya.

I believe our staff can work with him. They made Landry serviceable, that is a feat in and of itself.

I think many teams have passed because his problem seems to be innate rather than a lack of development or effort. Dobbs has spent time at various camps and with paid QB coaches trying to overcome his "issues". It hasn't worked. If you have a limited number of draft picks... you have to wonder if you can coach him up or if it is just a limitation.

There is NOTHING outside of that one issue that would have caused Dobbs to fall this far. GREAT character and intelligence. Great leader. Great physical tools. He just doesn't have the vision and anticipation to put the ball where it has to be consistently.

There is NOTHING wrong with Dobbs except the accuracy and passing deficiencies we've been telling you he had for a couple of years now. In fact, outside of those issues... he's an NFL GM's DREAM.

You ARE wrong. He isn't falling for the same reason DP did. He's falling because of a deficiency in his game. DP flew a little under the radar because he didn't have any talent around him.

I hear you. But let's be real, he's not trash. Also, Coach Tomlin was very impressed by his workout and interview. We're not looking for a starter, we're lookig for a project. I don't think it would be a waste. I'd also be happy with Peterman or Kaaya.

Everyone knows that Dobbs has a certain it factor. No one is upset with you for saying so.

It's because when people pointed out the things he needed to work on, you called them 'racist' 'laymen' and anointed yourself the smartest man on the planet.

Supporting Dobbs = good

Acting like a complete backpedaling douche = not so much.

yes it does. it is further proof to me that you don't know what you're talking about. before the draft, you were like "I'm hearing Dobbs is going such and such". everything you said about Dobbs in the draft has not happened. Can you just admit that part?

Lets start by admitting the voices in your head telling you 38th to the Chargers were a bit off...

Also lost in a lot of this is that a badly timed DUI hurt Dak right before the draft last year. He might have gone a round earlier but the DUI and beach fight added to the questions about whether he could adapt to the NFL
