As a former WR, I always got a lower stance to explode out off the snap. That, and making sure the back leg was ready to engage. Often times you see a WR come off the snap with a false step backwards. As such, I've never criticized CZA's stance, but I'm also not a high level coach. That's just what I was taught, and it makes sense. Power comes from loading the quad and glute, then go
It was the overemphasis of the crouch that was the problem. Every individual has a separate "breaking point" from being in an explosive stance to crossing that line into a submissive stance. Think of it this way, when doing squats, you naturally stop at a certain point so you don't get caught where you can't push back up. Every body is different and each person has a different stopping point, which is the "breaking point" I am referring to. Azzani would make every wide receiver, regardless of size and build, get in the exact same position level whether they were 5'10 and 185lbs or 6'4 and 225lbs. This led to some of our larger wr's feeling awkward and unexplosive at the hike. It started to be corrected when CBJ stepped in last year.
