I'm giving the guy a shot. He has things on his resume that worry me (like his hiring of Weber, though I do think perhaps parting with Martin was in the Univerities best long term interests).

But I've heard he's done some good things financially and with some other sports teams as well (IDK the situation that well, but supposedly he made a tough call moving on from Deb Patterson to their current WBB coach and that has turned out pretty well for them).

But for someone who has a mixed history with hires, it sure looks like he's walking into situation that could potentially have him involved in a lot of coaching searches over the next 1-3 years. Hopefully we're lucky enough to see the kind of improvement in our major sports that allow Currie to stick to his strong point and stock the coffers

Where've you been? Haven't seen you in awhile.

Come on man. He's a 4 star for a reason. Wanted by other top schools like Florida

Don't even care. Don't watch basketball.

I did watch the highlight.

Found it humorous since we always discuss "level of competition" with regards to football prospects.

Carry on.

Dorian Thompson-Robinson has been offered by Tn. He is the QB I want in this class. Great athlete, powerful arm. Hopefully Canales can reel him in

He was a frontrunner in the fanbase and media's imagination. The hiring process started 2 weeks ago and he never was the frontrunner.

Look, I would have liked DB here too, but we asked for a UT guy and got one. Now we still meltdown.

I'm with you on this. I was 100% in on DB. This is a Tennessee guy though. He has been here, knows the fan base ( and how quick we turn on someone ), helped fire Fulmer and hire Pearl. So the bagmen have to be a little more discreet, but he knows how that works too. I am willing to give him a chance. He got his masters from here so he surely understands what he is walking into.

While we are playing the "at least" game, at least Dave Hart is no longer the AD at UT.

Supposedly is until April...when Currie reports...but.

I've either been working, traveling, or have had little of value to add to the large majority of conversations around here lately. So I've been sitting on the sidelines a bit more and/or playing catch up a day or two after the fact.

Of course the flurry of news over the past week meant I couldn't resist making time to give my two cents lol

Nice to see you despite our differences. Take care Darth.

This guy is part of the group that fired Fulmer. He's not gonna be bringing Phil back. I'm fine with that.

He's not bringing Fulmer back as 'coach'... He,Currie, was part of letting CPF go bc it was the right bc thing to do.

Fulmer in administration could be different and to be determined.

You're decision to put your head in the ground ab the hire is annoying and somewhat disturbing.

What do you expect from a dude that thinks Warlick should get an extension and raise just because she gets to the Elite 8 every year...lol.

AD at a power 5 conference is more than Blackburn has done...

And Dooley was a HC in a Power 5 conference...

Ties to the university or not, you hire someone that the incumbent school does not want to lose. But we hire someone away from a school and that school's fan base is elated. Not a recipe for success.

The more I read about Currie, the worse it sounds. GFW, you said you liked the hire- what makes you feel that way? On paper good experience, but everyone is saying what a smart ass he is and how he treated Fulmer isn't sounding like a mending fences kind of hire. Now Fulmer cancelled a media session at a fundraising event last night. I wish the Haslams had no part of our university. This was their call I'm sure.

I don't think that.

I just know she is safe and not getting fired while going to elite 8's. She can stay there forever for all I care.

SIAP Peyton will be at the Thursday press conference per Hubbs.

Clearly, Peyton has endorsed this hire. That makes it game over, for me. I was willing to give him a chance, regardless, but Peyton's support will also make it much more palatable for some of the Twitter incendiaries.

Fulmer threw his hat in the ring. Brought it on himself iyam. He's not an AD.

I think some of the boosters encouraged him to do it and maybe indicated he would be a front-runner. He loves his school and I also think that he wanted a chance to redeem some of his lost legacy. I don't think his legacy is tarnished at all, but there are plenty who do.
