'18 FL QB Michael Penix Jr.

As of right now here are our legitimate QB chances for 2018:

1.'18 NJ/FL QB Artur Sitkowski
2.'18 GA QB Jarren Williams(committed to Kentucky)
3.'18 TN QB John Foreback
4.'18 GA QB Gunnar Watson
5.'18 NC QB Mason McLaughlin
6.'18 SC QB Cary Enos
7.'18 OH QB Brennan Armstrong(committed to Minnesota on 2-19-17)
8.'18 LA QB Jordan Loving
9.'18 TN QB Woodrowe Lowe III
10.'18 LA QB Justin Rogers
11.'18 ID QB Colston Yankoff
12.'18 TX QB Jalen Mayden
13.'18 GA QB Demarcus "DJ" Irons
14.'18 AL QB James Foster
15.'18 GA QB Justin Fields(committed to Penn State)
16.'18 FL QB Michael Penix Jr.
17.'18 SC QB Dakereon Joyner
18.'18 TN QB Seth Carlisle

I would place top priority on Justin Rogers in my opinion. 2nd would be either Jordan Loving or Artur Sitkowski. Penix & Foster would follow after those along with Yankoff.

I'm sure there will be more QB's that we probably offer as well. These are listed in no particular order by the way. Jalen Mayden is another interesting QB that we recently offered.

Edit:
By the way, we haven't offered every single one of the above QB recruits yet. I'd say ~7-8 we have officially offered. The rest we've just shown interest in to date but expect some more offers to come.

This picture in a thread with names like Yankoff-Penix is a dangerous combination.

Here's the problem with the stargazers. Last year's Heisman winner would have gotten all kinds of negative responses on this board according to his star rating and offers. This kid has tremendous potential and you still continue to recruit your top targets. We need 2 QB'S in 18. Who honestly thinks the kid we just signed is our future starting QB at any point.

Any chance we take two QBs this year, much like the '13 and '15 classes?

It makes sense. There's a good chance one of Dormady or Jones leaves before fall. If JG wins the starting job who's to say both won't then leave?

Butch has to start figuring out how to keep talent from leaving

So we only lose qbs...got it.

Cuz that's what I said. :). But while we're in this illuminating spot, name a transfer (other than QBs who would have never unseated Dobbs) that has balled out elsewhere. Hendrix ain't done crap at Pitt (injuries are part of the eval). Darrell Scott? Nope. Payne? Who? Wharton? Jenkins? All that "lost" talent and another team can't find it.

It's funny. The same people who yell this are also the ones who criticize Butch for "keeping" Hurd too long.

Some of the same posters extolling Kamara and blasting Butch for not starting him, made posts concerning his non ability to be a 3 down back. Read lots of drivel about his "lack of size" before the season. Man was solid and over 200 pounds but "facts" change with agendas. :loco:

I am one of those posters. I was an advocate for Kamara when he was coming here and I never understood why he didn't get the touches. I also question him as a 3 down back in the NFL. I'm not saying he can't be or won't but he wasn't exactly impressive running inside. When he had space, he was dangerous but i wanted to see more consistency. Not exactly his fault since we decided to start using him this season. I didn't question his size though.

Tampa (Fla.) Tampa Bay Tech three-star quarterback Michael Penix was back in Tallahassee this weekend for Florida State’s Junior Day. Penix last visit to FSU was last summer for camp.

“I met with coach (Jimbo) Fisher. He told me to keep working, he likes everything that I’m doing,” Penix told Noles247.

Last summer Penix threw at FSU’s camp and was one of the top arms that came through Tallahassee. He plans to return again this summer.

FSU has not offered Penix yet, but he does have offers from Oregon, Tennessee, USF, Rutgers, Toledo and Arizona.

“I’ll be back up to camp for sure. It’s a great place, the coaches treat me well and I want to make sure I keep showing love,” he said.

Penix plans to take a couple more visits this spring, then attend several camps this summer. A final decision will come sometime during the summer, before his senior season begins.

“I just want to make sure the school I choose feels like home. That the school treats me right and when I go there it’s all business.”

Kid's got this recruiting thing backwards. It supposed to be coaches of the schools that are recruiting a player showing him love, not the other way around.

And yes, it does sound like he is waiting on that FSU offer.

This kids football team does have a tough schedule! I went to Armwood High School my senior year and schools in that area make schools in East Tennessee look like pee wee teams! Armwood High School had the number one overall recruit a few years back, Byron Cowart (sp)!

PS: other than him being left handed, he can throw the Deep ball and has good speed from what I seen on his hudl film. He'll get a bump, IMO.

My guess is the kid we just signed believes he will be our starting QB down the road. And really, that's all that matters.

That's all that matters from the prospective of that kid if he is doing all he can to compete for the right to be the starter. I like the kid. He is tough and a fierce competitor. But I like those same traits in other kids that are far more gifted.

You have no idea how gifted or ungifted McBride is.

You are correct sir. I am basing my opinion of video comparison. QB is one of the toughest positions to judge off video alone. So many intangibles that can make someone a great QB. Still entitled to my opinion.
