That's pretty much how stats in regards to football always work. Can't understand feeling compelled to point out something so obvious. It's like saying, "would've had more losses if not for all the wins."
So, he changes out the DC when it was the offense struggling and now changes out the OC when the defense struggles. Almost 6,000 yards of offense this year.
The thing is last year Jones actually went out and made an elite hire for DC. Obviously, for various reasons we didn't get the results from that hire we wanted but at the time it was the splash hire many of us never could have expected to happen at Tennessee. This gives me hope that he will do the same on this hire. Now, if he can land another elite coordinator and is willing to stay out of their way, he can do what he does best and that's reel in the talent needed for his coordinators systems. If all of this happens we will be fine and Butch Jones may very well end up being a championship coach in the future.
IF...
Helfrich was supposedly the architect of that offense. And offensive production wasn't the reason Oregon was losing this year. They were 15th nationally in total offense. The issue was they were ranked 126th out of 128 D-1 schools.
New York Jets:
The Jets have announced that offensive coordinator Chan Gailey is retiring. Gailey is 64 years old and his coaching career began in 1974 and hes coached in the NFL with the Broncos, Steelers, Cowboys, Dolphins, Chiefs, Bills, and has been a college head coach at Troy State, Samford, and Georgia Tech.. The Jets have also announced that five assistants will not return in Ken Patullo (QBs), Marcel Shipp (RBs), Pepper Johnson (DL), Mark Collins (OLBs) and Joe Danna (DBs).
