Debord to Indiana as OC

That's pretty much how stats in regards to football always work. Can't understand feeling compelled to point out something so obvious. It's like saying, "would've had more losses if not for all the wins."

It's hilarious isn't it. The numbers are about as indisputable as can be. So, people resort to idiocy to cling to their negative narrative. Which season doesn't have patsies where the O and D "pad their stats"?

So, he changes out the DC when it was the offense struggling and now changes out the OC when the defense struggles. Almost 6,000 yards of offense this year.

We struggled in all aspects of the game. 120 was a very inconsistent team. It's all about getting a great QB coach. Our offense will only be as good as our QB and the line. Our defense will only be as good as our Dline.

Get it together Butch!

Yes, she's wearing the pants in that family.

New York Jets:
The Jets have announced that offensive coordinator Chan Gailey is retiring. Gailey is 64 years old and his coaching career began in 1974 and he’s coached in the NFL with the Broncos, Steelers, Cowboys, Dolphins, Chiefs, Bills, and has been a college head coach at Troy State, Samford, and Georgia Tech.. The Jets have also announced that five assistants will not return in Ken Patullo (QBs), Marcel Shipp (RBs), Pepper Johnson (DL), Mark Collins (OLBs) and Joe Danna (DBs).

This is my take.

We had an offense that had some worts but had a historically high scoring output.

We had a defense that was equally extraordinary but only in the bad sense.

I know this has been talked to death in other threads but this doesn't seem like a good thing to me.

So the "hired a pool guy" stuff was all Butch? Senile jokes? EVERYTHING InVoluntary posted? "Fire DeBord" was coined before he was even hired. Thought he did well overall...needed a different playcaller for a fresh approach IMO.

Wait... Wut?

The thing is last year Jones actually went out and made an elite hire for DC. Obviously, for various reasons we didn't get the results from that hire we wanted but at the time it was the splash hire many of us never could have expected to happen at Tennessee. This gives me hope that he will do the same on this hire. Now, if he can land another elite coordinator and is willing to stay out of their way, he can do what he does best and that's reel in the talent needed for his coordinators systems. If all of this happens we will be fine and Butch Jones may very well end up being a championship coach in the future.

IF...

Great post.

Helfrich was supposedly the architect of that offense. And offensive production wasn't the reason Oregon was losing this year. They were 15th nationally in total offense. The issue was they were ranked 126th out of 128 D-1 schools.

So Helfrich was 15th nationally on offense in the PAC 12 and is the 2nd coming, but DeBord was 24th nationally in the SEC and he's an idiot that needed to go according to you. That about sums up you and your logic.

Dude getting out of crazy town. Maybe it was Debord that said, "F*** all of them?"

Why would any coach choose Indiana football over the great tradition at UT?

why not...he wasn't appreciated here, and I wish him good fortune...except against us, if we ever play...:)

GO VOLS!

It sucks that they are just rearranging the deck chairs rather than crushing the head of the snake. Just delaying the inevitable.

Butch has us slated to play Indiana in the Pointsettia Bowl next year....Continuing our domination of the worst teams in the Best Conference in America.
