Chip Kelly: Discussing his future with Fox Sports’s Jay Glazer he’s happy to be an assistant coach moving forward. “I’ll go be an offensive coordinator somewhere,” Kelly said, according to Glazer.

This?

I think this is for the NFL. No way he comes back to college and isn't a HC. Hell I'd fire Butch today to hire him as HC and Helfrich as OC. With JG at QB we'd average 45 points a game

Helfrich in at OC. Defense struggles, but JG is the second coming, Butch is fired after losing to Scar again, Helfrich becomes interim HC, promoted to full time HC, goes undefeated in 2018, Saban quits after Ty Chandler runs him over, meteor hits UGA vs FL game, Vols go on to win playoffs for next 10+ years, hell freezes over.

The End.

Basilio reminds me of one of my guilty pleasures from a couple decades ago. There was a radio call-in show called "Coast to Coast" with Art Bell. It covered all sorts of paranormal and supernatural topics and had just enough plausibility to be interesting though it was rarely believable. It had a rather large cult following of true believers. I for one enjoyed it. I could suspend disbelief long enough to wonder "what if?".

Basilio relies on the same model (and production equipment, apparently).

Show is still on. I often find it while scanning stations traveling late at night/very early on hunting trips. Keeps one awake.

The thing is last year Jones actually went out and made an elite hire for DC. Obviously, for various reasons we didn't get the results from that hire we wanted but at the time it was the splash hire many of us never could have expected to happen at Tennessee. This gives me hope that he will do the same on this hire. Now, if he can land another elite coordinator and is willing to stay out of their way, he can do what he does best and that's reel in the talent needed for his coordinators systems. If all of this happens we will be fine and Butch Jones may very well end up being a championship coach in the future.

IF...

If wishes were horses...

If, ifs & buts were candy & nuts, we'd all have a merry Christmas

If a bullfrog had wings,
he wouldn't bumpeth his butt on the ground.

If The Vols had a great OC,
We'd win the NC.

At first, I was totally wanting Helfrich. After some consideration, I am not sure he is the guy to get her done. His resume looks great, but when you start looking at the small details there are some questions I would have for him. Who was actually calling plays at Oregon? If the answer is Chip, I would keep looking. Would coach Z and Scott work well as CO-OCs? Who knows, but Helfrich isn't a sure fire home run.

Helfrich was supposedly the architect of that offense. And offensive production wasn't the reason Oregon was losing this year. They were 15th nationally in total offense. The issue was they were ranked 126th out of 128 D-1 schools.

You're right.
All hope is lost.
We are doomed, I tell ya, doomed!
The sky isn't falling, it already fell.

The scary thing about this is no AD hire announced yet. What are they waiting on?! Announce Blackburn for goodness sakes and allow him to help butch with this- LWS or DP what are they waiting on now? Davenport has surely had time to meet with him by now and things be in place.

So, he changes out the DC when it was the offense struggling and now changes out the OC when the defense struggles. Almost 6,000 yards of offense this year.

One chancellor at a time. Cheek still has to ban drilling in the ANWAR, piss off the Israelis and go to Hawaii before anyone moves on new AD.

Or maybe he changed out the DC when he did because he knew the offense would be powerful enough to carry the season while the new defensive system went through growing pains? Now, he feels like next season the defense will come around and carry the offense as it goes through their transition. That means everything falls into place in 2018! NC in 2018!

Is that how it's done, posivols?
